I just added it on. It felt like he needed it. And he is the most magnificent of ~~all~~ most of the ponies

I guess it would. It's weird how in universe Celestia is manestream and Luna would be the hipster choice and out of universe it's the other way around.

Stewed in vengeance, deaged into a filly to have adventures, plotted and schemed so she was ready to banish Celestia right off the bat, probably went insane.

Some interpret her banishment in that she was sane and Luna going in and insane and Nightmare Moon going out.

Well, the way I figured it, she wasn't ON the moon as in a pony sitting on the Lunar surface, Given the fact that she was a gigantic shadow on the moon, I figured it was more she was trapped IN the moon, as in her she was rendered into a non physical form and then imprisoned within the entire mass of the moon.
