well, thing I think would work best, would be have the scale be incredably hard, but if a few heavy bucks can shatter or knock lose a few, the hide itself is a bit thicker and heavier then a smaller animal but complety vulnerable.

Hm. I like the idea of
E Ps using morning stars, whips, meteor hammers and the like, but they'd need to be careful not to strike themselves in the head. Using such heavily weighted free-swinging weapons could be hazardous to a pony's health if you aren't paying attention, I'd wager.

@ latenight: They're African elephants, fighting a very large dragon. That's how I figured they'd act, but I'm not sure if they could penetrate the scales with just their tusks. Several of them working together might be able to topple it, but then what?
Oh, I agree Purple Dalek, the 1930-1950's had some of the best slang! It's one reason I love movies from that era, besides the acting and the wardrobe.
I assume they'd trample it once they knocked it prone, and elephants move fairly quickly, so there would be little chance for the dragon to recover I think.
