Also, I think Eps use a mixture of bare hoof fighting and throwen weapons, if the battle of Apploosa was anything to go by.

[up] Bye now!

@Freeman: Or they could use katars.

[up]Like javelins, how would Earth Ponies throw them?

I gave it a bit of consideration a while ago, and I came up with a few options for pony weapons.

The most ideal one would be a sort of knuckle duster/ katar - A blade attached to the hooves. The difficulty is with the fact that the blade would be against the ground all the time, which would wear it out, but if there were some sort of trigger for it it would be okay. I figure swords might also be viable with some custom hilts. For example, EP's have proven capable of manipulating something with their tails, so a sword with a ring-shaped hilt could become a very useful weapon. Axes are also viable, because they're a simple enough weapon to use - the blade is curved, removing the need to slice, as it will naturally carve with it strikes something.

Things like lances are a bit trickier to use, since they tend to require two hands set far apart - not somethign a pony can manage. They're pretty much only viable by Pegasi as a charging weapon, or by Unicorns.

On the whole, any pony wielding a weapon physically is going to have to resort to some pretty interesting acrobatics. Quick hooves is pretty much a must for any fighter, at least as far as EP's go. Unicorns can get away with Magic, but if they rely on it they become a Squishy Wizard - they're effectively useless at close range, where they can be hit with their spells. Of course, that depends on what range of power you alot to their telekinesis. Given the amoutn of concentration, though, I'd say it's not likely viable for a moving target. Same deal with Pegasi; they can get by with weather magic, but they're reliant on the environment until they get windstorm mastery. All three races benefit from having some form of weapon feat, but Unicorns and Ep's take the most benefit, since Unicorns can manipulate the weapon the easiest and EP's are reliant on their agility, which they have a natural benefit in thanks to their stat boost(at least if they're specced that way). A pegasuses main benefit in a physical fight is the ability to stay out of an opponent's range, and their speed. They don't have to have as much skill in manipulating the weapon if they're quick and agile enough to fly into an opponent's blindspot.

So essentially in combat EP's need focus on Agility and dexterity, Pegasi only need to focus on Agility, and Unicorns only need to focus on their intelligence(Assuming that ties to their telekinetic prowess). All races benefit from Constitution, but it isn't strictly necessary.

How the fuck are E Ps gonna fight DRAGONS?

I mean, AJ and Pinkie are special, so they do some insane shit, but not all the E Ps can be like that

Their tails I guess. There are also slings...which btw...where figgin' deadly...and highly feared. A rock thrown by a professional slinger hits with the same impact as a .22 cal handgun.

My best guess would be something like Blade Below The Elbow for the hind legs that take advantage of the digitigrade shape... not sure how well that would work, but having weapons on the weaker front hooves just seems like, if not a bad idea, at the very least wasted potential.

Ranged weaponry? Pegasi gives them a boost onto the Dragon, then they just hold onto it's back?

Aggro it into coming onto the ground, they kick it in the teeth?

@kegi I already have a method of getting them onto the ground, I just need a way for them to duke it out on the ground itself

Pegasi mounted and then grapple with the dragons. Or catapult themselves up. Or they pre-emptively attack the wings.

Oh on the ground? Stand Firm, in the Phalanx.

On an individual level, a pony is much more agile than a dragon. Get in his blind spot, climb up his back, and get to the head. After that a few good bucks to the face is at least going to stun him.

Ever played Shadow of the Colossus? Yeah, pretty much like that.

Stand Firm, in a phalanx formation. Well crafted shields and slow advancement. Along with copious distractions from Pegasi until close enough for mass assault.

AJ and Rainbow would be the best team for fighting.

Why do we assume thu would need to resort to our typical bipedal means like using their weapons with their hooves, that seems way too complex a process for something they need to use to cut something, especially since standing on their hind legs cannot be easy or comfortable, helmet mounted weaponry makes sense.
I analyze "Geek Culture" here.

When All Else Fails, worry, that's the 14 way.

Head mounted weaponry would be most practical for earth ponies. Like a tusk helmet for goring and charging, a blade mohawk, or antlers. For fighting dragons a very spiky suit of armour sort of like a porcupine would help defend against the dragon grasping the pony. A less headgear or armour specific way of attacking would be to take a spear plant it into the ground and brace it against the pony's body then wait for the enemy to charge into it.

@ Ginger, hit and run and divide and conquer. Split them up into several small groups, while one group makes feints at the dragon to get his attention, some others run in from a blind spot, give him a few hard hits, then run out as the dragon tries to turn to face them, repeat from another direction, while the pegasi keep up the pressure from above and the Unicorns send in ranged attacks.
Build a fool proof system, and the world will create a better fool.

[up][up]Horses still naturally strike with their forehooves. So I don't think it's too far out to see them using hoof-mounted weaponry.

@Red: Most corupted!Characters are still considered the same individual.

Luna Eclipsed shows that she's very similar to Nightmare Moon, only not egotistical or evil.

But we're delving into stuff that's never going to be cleared up by the show and which I honestly don't consider particularly important.
