The 20th century kind of gets the shaft in school because teachers always run out of time at the end of the year and never get to cover it.
Except for my World History teacher, who skipped pretty much everything so that she could spend ages covering
WW 1 and 2.
If there is anything that you are alone in thinking, it's "thinking that you're alone in thinking of your theories".
I took a course of european history in High School, and really enjoyed it. We skimmed over the bulk of the early stuff, and I think most of the course focused on roughly from 1000-present. Most of it on the 1300-1700 range, really. The 1400 were pretty neat, that was when the printing press was invented. French aristocracy around the 16, 1700 was also pretty interesting.
@Mousa By the way, have you humanized Spike, Gilda, Derpy Hooves, Sapphire Shores, Blueblood, Snips, Snails, Spitfire, and Doctor Whooves yet?
I always wanted to learn more about warfare... is
The Art of War worth getting?

Wouldn't a humanised Doctor Whooves just be
David Tennant?

@Applelight: It's my standing theory that people make fun of the French because they're still sore from that time Napoleon showed them who they were screwing with.
Can you think inside the chimney?
Isn't the Cheese Monkeys thing really recent? I thought it started after Vietnam. And then it flared up again during the initial stages of the Iraq War.

The Cheese Eating Surrender Monkeys trope has always bothered me too. The French certainly knew how to conduct war.

Yeah, I guess
WW 2 is a more likely cause than Vietnam. Even if it isn't really true.

Funny you should mention that...

Most of my historical interest is first century European and Middle eastern stuff. Even in American history I tend to prefer the revolutionary and Civil war eras to more modern stuff.
I just wished I could grow up in the 80's

Why's that, Ginger?

European history is weird. I vaguely remember at some point, Spain was involved in fighting a rebellion in The Netherlands.
