I'm guessing that not all apple cutie marks are related, and the Apple clan tends to marry other ponies who are also apple farmers.

I figured they got apple cutie marks simply because it was the family business - the son of a business owner being raised to take over the business, sort of thing.

Yeah, well, I'm sure that not all similar cutie marks point to relation, and I knew Apple Bloom's probably won't be an apple. Mr. and Mrs. Cake surely aren't siblings.

But even then, it seems odd to me that every member of the Apple family that we've seen has an apple-related mark. It'd be like if all your relatives, even the ones you were only related to through marriage, had freckles.

But a cutie mark isn't so much as a physical characteristic as a badge of office - It's more like an entire family of musicians, say, and people do tend to gravitate towards people that share their interests.

It's been hinted that she'd make an amazing dancer.

...that said, I have no idea what you would do for that, either.

Remember how Applejack alluded to being the last in her class to get her cutie mark, and that it was the same for Big Mac? I think it's actually because they're part of the Apple Clan. Just because you're born into a farming family doesn't mean you automatically know that's what you want to do for the rest of your life, after all. Sure, Applejack's devoted to apples and apple accessories now, but I wouldn't be surprised to learn she went through a phase where she didn't want anything to do with apples.

...Of course, given my luck, that'll be Jossed in "The Cutie Mark Chronicles", but... eh.

I think it'd be cute if Sweetie Belle got a mark similar to her sister's. A crystal bell or note, perhaps? With Scootaloo, it's so hard for me to picture anything, for some reason...

A wheel, perhaps?

Funny, I pictured Applejack screwing up that saying earlier today.

I completely read that in the wrong head-voice and got Dash saying it.

They have the same voice actor, so it makes sense that Applejack without the accent would sound like Rainbow Dash.

AJ is still voiced differently from Rainbow Dash, I think, accent or no.

Wow...talk about your ponies. Another site I go to has re-tooled the theme of the entire site to fit with them.

Not FIM specifically, but still. Plus, there's a bunch of folks getting into it by voluntarily switching their avatars to modded ponies. Most of them photos of the real thing.
