Presumably that's how the pegasi work as well. They also seem to have the Required Secondary Power of healing quickly from broken wings, if Dashie recovering from her painful spill in Read It And Weep is any indication.

Ponies are just absurdly resilient because the world they live in can be very hostile because of megafauna predators (Everfree has lots of them) and the occasional superpowered villain or evil god (read:Discord). Also their natural magic gives them a kind of natural armor bonus.

It's electrolysis. And I think it's pretty clear that pegasus wings run on magic, but I don't think theres a 'bubble'.
