I curse this Wiki for getting me into this show. The first episode wasn't anything really mind blowing. The art was dazzling and the characters were cute but it didn't seem to have much to offer a 20 year old college student. But...for some reason, I kept thinking about it...and thinking about it.

Especially Rainbow Dash. I mean, come on!

Now I'm looking forward to each one.

HOLD ON JUST A GODDAMN SECOND

A guy called Macintosh working on an apple farm?!

HOW DID I NOT REALIZE THIS EARLIER

Hi. My name is Fawriel, and I like watching a franchise-driven cartoon for little girls.

Hi, Fawriel. Your appearance here is completely and totally unexpected.

In other news, confound this Lauren Faust, she drives me to cartoons. I actually enjoyed the Rarity episode a whole lot more than I thought I would, and I think that's because we got to see her serious artist side. I can respect her a whole lot more now that I've seen how seriously she takes her artistic profession.

...I never thought the day would come when I would respect a pony.
Time keeps dragging on.

[up][up]I chuckled when I realized you could shorten his name to Big Mac.

The order of the episodes with the seasons seems odd, though. Like with Fall of the Leaves being after Winter Wrap Up.

Maybe the seasons aren't as predictable in Ponyland. They did get really freaked out about nature working..erm... naturally (magic blue flowers aside) in the forest where the zebra lives.
It didn't pass - it didn't pass - it didn't pass from me. I drank it when we met the gas beyond Gethsemane.

I read this whole thread simply because I was wondering how a thread about My Little Ponies got this big. Now I want to watch the show myself, diabetes be damned.  *

The good thing about the show is that it has juuuuuuuuuuuust enough self-awareness that you don't feel completely stupid for watching it, even if it is extremely well-acted and directed.

I really hope this show paves the way for more good girl-oriented shows, that are friendly enough that boys will enjoy them, too.

It has gotten 30 something year old men going Mc D's for the My Little Pony happy meal toys.

Ah, but well-adjusted 30-something-yr-old men are much less concerned about appearing manly than boys are.

Speaking of the toys, I got Cherrilee. What kind of bullcrap is that, I got the pony that isn't even in the show.

I think you get better results by just asking for the bag number of the happy meal toys.

1- Pinkie Pie
2- Fluttershy
3- Applejack
4- Cherilee
5- Twilight Sparkle
6- Rainbow Dash
7. Rarity
8. Princess Celestia

So while we're waiting for the next episode, I ask. What was the original "My Little Pony" like?
I don't konw what to think, anymore.

Kind of fun, actually, though pretty uneven. The World Is Always Doomed at the hands of horrible demons. Which is pretty cool, but it jars heavily with the main characters. Also, Off Model was the order of the day.

The second series, My Little Pony Tales, was a bit like a proto version of the current one, but it really went overboard with the anthropomorphization.
Well ain't there one damn song that can make me break down and cry?

So while we're waiting for the next episode, I ask. What was the original "My Little Pony" like?

It was a semi-permanent Sugar Apocalypse - on the one hand, you had these cute, girly ponies residing in a pink manor and living the good life, but on the other hand they were constantly being threatened by half the cast of the Monster Manual.

It wasn't the deepest or the smartest thing on TV, but it certainly wasn't worse than most. All in all, I consider it one of the upper-tiers cartoons of the 80s, in the same category as GI Joe or Transformers.

The G1 show seems to be odd mix of Tastes Like Diabetes and monsters that want to take over the world. I do notice that show seems to be Darker and Edgier than Friendship is Magic at times.

I have speculated that the upcoming two parters for Friendship is Magic might deal with a villain similar to Tirak.

I went to Mc Donald's for the first time in years just to grab some Friendship is Magic toys.

I have two Rainbow Dashes and a Twilight Sparkle now.<3

My whole mood has been messed up the past couple of days now. That totally subverted my ongoing MLP addition. I hate and mourn every time I think about the fact the Sugar Bowl of my mind has been ruined by the mental disturbance I've been suffering the past week. I need it back, oh Lord do I need it back! I need to get back obsessed with MLP and in my Happy Place.
