People keep assuming that Luna and Celestia are mortal and age as mortals. Both were presumably full-grown even before Luna got locked away. I mean, they were depicted as such.

My theory is that they do age. Just not in the same rhythm of a normal pony. That would explain why Celestia is much bigger if we consider that she didn't age while on the moon.

Maybe it's because Celestia and Luna had about the same size then.

@gingerninja We don't if that was a spell what Twilight done with grass or it was her telekinesis. But we know that unicorns abylities works only on thing related to their talents, even if telekinesis can be uset on every object , precise telekinesis can only work on fashion stuff in case of Rarity. So no , Twilight have better TK in any way than any unicorn in show. I think Twilight could do same or even more ipresive stuff with desing tools but her results will be worse only because TS is bad desinger (like that nest in WWU)

You have no way of KNOWING that Twilight is better, we can just go from what we've seen in the eps

Sure twilight is more powerful than rarity...

But Rarity is much more beautiful and graceful than twilight.

...technically, Twilight is supposed to be better than everyone, at just one particular thing, that thing being magic. She's shown a breadth, depth, and inventiveness with it that nobody else has. She hasn't shown precise telekinesis because there hasn't really been any call for it yet - though, one has to wonder how she can milk a cow without seeing it if it's not precise.

Magic, meanwhile, is not everything. There are ponies who are better than her in lots of other ways. She can be the best at magic without being a Mary Sue.

Um, sorry, Huge Power Levels in heroes are a massive Berserk Button for me. Spike says something like "Great use of #17" when she uses the wind spell, those were the SPELLS she was practising at the beginning of the ep.

and I LOVE Twilight she's ridiculously Adorkable. I just don't like that part of her character.

I like to imagine that the cast are all on roughly the same footing.

I don't really think Pinkie qualifies as a Sue. Her reality warping powers only work for Rule of Funny and never come in handy in practical situations. And even in situations where she inexplicably knows more than everypony else, like in Swarm of the Century, her inability to properly communicate gets in the way.

Spike declared Twilight's music as a spell - referring to is as number...whatever. And not that I want to get into this argument at all, but you both raise the point that we can't really call anything about either of these two. They do very little of the same things, so they aren't comprable. It would be like comparing Twilight's skill in transmogrification vs Trixie's skill in Illusion - neither try the other's skill, so we can't say anything.

It's more the "She's never wrong" vibe I get from her, or "I don't care even if I am" for whenever she is

The show makes it pretty clear that Twilight is way more powerful magically than any other pony, but she is terrible at using it for any situation she isn't prepared for. Although I would assume that Trixie is better at illusion magic, since that is her specialty and all.

Well, that's sort of my point. I mean, we've never seen Twilight even try it - so she could be fantastic, for all we know.

If it's anything like the way she upstaged Rarity's gem finding spell then yeah, she probably could do better than Trixie
