I thought choppa was short for helicopter. As in "get to the choppa".

elves gave nightmares, too. My, how our perception of them has changed...

Have you read Lords and Ladies?

Elves are terrific ... they beget terror

Orks also mature in a fashion astonishingly similar to our Equestrian ponies, changing physically when they find their calling in life.

@Crowlover: Nah, Gothic's the official language of the Terran Empire. It's basically English.

I would recommend you try one of them one of these days, then if you like it, read more of Pterry's works.

Well it's one of the biggest modern examples of Elves are Evil that I can think of. Heck, it provides the page quote on The Fair Folk.

No, "Choppa" in Orkspeak means basically a bladed weapon. "Shoota" is the word for a gun.

So we're talking about Orcs eh?

I've never really played them much. Sure they have the best infantry, but they just don't have any cool units. They're so bland. Even the humans at least have their air galley.

Concerning Granny Smith, she admitedly has a lot of 'senile old guy' traits, she rambles a bit and is shown to be rather frail. I noticed they've kinda downplayed it in later episodes however, where she seems to display more tact and she seems more eccentric and kooky than outright senile. Truth be told nearly all the ponies are stereotypes, especially Applejack's family, but they have enough alternate depths to compensate. Truthfully cliches and stereotypes consist of many traditional character traits so are kind of neccesary at times if you want a distinctive personality.

As for Spike's lifespan, missed that quote from Dragonshy. Kinda tragic that. Then again is the lifespan for any of the ponies ever delved into, especially considering some are pegusi and unicorns. The whole place is magical and supernatural so it would make some sense if lifespan's were different from realistic comparisions.

Though having Spike capable of aging via manners different from time might have been an attempt at an Author's Saving Throw from this Fridge Horror (especially since his crush has the vice of Greed).

Sorry for reverting the subject by the way, I turn my back from this thread for one minute...

^Well, given that Granny Smith is older than one of the better-known and more thriving hamlets in Equestria, either she's really old (and thus ponies have a fairly ridiculous lifespan) or Ponyville is significantly less than a hundred years old. Granted, living so close to the Everfree Forest must be an occupational hazard for the buildings there...

I should note that while GS does have a lot of "stereotypical old person" traits, it's also not entirely inaccurate either. And it's honestly not that bad of a portrayal; she's still active and involved in running the farm and raising her grandkids, so I'm willing to let the old person jokes slide.

And to think this all started from bringing up that the Ænglisce word for "elf" also meant "incubus"

My 40k career is all about killing Orks.

Hellhounds, Ogyrns, Valkyrie Gunships, Mortars, Leman Russes and good old plain Infantrymen all do the trick.

I like the orks pretty much purely because they run on Clap Your Hands If You Believe.

Their entire race is Psykers... and they still have psyker units. Called Weird boys. Which is awesome.

Yeah, they're more like ordinary monsters. I guess Discord is the best fit if anyone.

I can concede that, but still... to me he's just an ordinary Chimera. Like Gilda or Iron Will.
