I for one, have found that pickles make excellent lightbulbs.

Spam is to meat as paper airplanes are to the Concord.

We have a trope for that.

Pickles are preserved foodstuffs in vinegar, so I wonder if anypony in Equestria has discovered it. It would go a long way towards improving food supply longevity especially in poor weather.

"Magic" is shorthand for forces we don't readily understand, and it's a simple enough term to use.

Once again C. S. Lewis comes through. His definition of "magic" was "objective efficacy that cannot be further analyzed". In that you can repeatedly observe it and predict it because it's usage is always the same, which is why Twilight is capable of studying spells and whatnot. The difference is that you can't necessarily break down the nitty-gritty of why it occurs that way. Like you can say "performing spell X always has result Y" because it's an observable phenomena, but you can't necessarily not they exact connection. Like if we knew that you get a spark when you strike flint and steel together but didn't know the chemical reactions or physics that caused it.

Probably Wednesday or Saturday of next week. I need to use the university computers for that and it's spring break right now so the library closes before I can get there.

For the most part I would agree, but I would tack on "at the moment" to the end of "cannot be further analyzed". To accommodate for scientific progress, of course.

@CDRW: Kinda, only it's basically been proven through repeated observation that it always happens the same way. I.e. if you perform the same spell the same way you always get the same result. The Black Box elements are stuff like Poison Joke and Heart's Desire that have unreliable effects.

@Ace: Hope the store doesn't have a "You break it you buy it" policy.

Yeah, either that or you really do have a Black Box scenario where scientifically studying it won't work because even though it's reliable, it breaks the laws of physics.

No, I don't think they would eat spam if they're all vegetarian as Pinkie says. It's still made mostly from meat, according to Wikipedia.

What I'm like in real life? I'm 5 feet tall (152 cm) and I think my weight is around 140 lbs (63 kg) but I could be wrong since I don't weigh myself regularly aside from annual doctor checkups. I'm ironically the shortest of my cousins but the oldest (I don't have any siblings). I have short blond hair, brown eyes and I wear glasses. I generally wear casual clothes like sweaters (jumpers in the UK) and sweatpants in bright colors. I'm probably more polite and possibly calmer on the Internet than I am in person, since text-based communication allows for more thought going into replies than talking in person would, but I generally post the way I would speak normally. I'm also a bit of typical "Aspie" in that I'm outspoken about topics that interest me, but I generally like to be alone and I prefer being bluntly honest to doing polite small-talk (I HATE answering questions like "how are you" because usually the honest answer would be "fine until you spoke to me and startled me"). I'm also VERY easily startled, and tend to be rather vocal about it. Probably in real life, I would often have my dog Luna with me in public, and I tend to obsess over her because she's easy to tell people about if they don't know about the various fictional works I'm interested in.

Edit: I saw that funny picture of Derpy in the china shop! Put Scorpius Malfoy from my Harry Potter fanfics in with her for extra clumsy fun! (I made him be The Klutz in my story about the next-gen kids)
