Liked the review by the way, J Teeth, I do agree it is a bit padded and could've done better with a better build up of Twilight's freakout rather than montage.

@yeller: the reason you can only use it once is because They would come after you if you cast it again.

@Mousa: Yeah, when I watched it again it basically hit me that the entire thing between Twilight getting the message and returning from having banished Cerberus had a very low ratio of plot relevance to screen time. I mean, all it really did was give a lot of cameos.

Probably just to remind the audience that "Yeah, the Mane Six exist, " I mean when you think about it it merely existed to give the main characters speaking lines., and they were lines barely worthwhile anyway.

It also gave a nice sense of continuity with the dam (seriously, Twi might have put it back together with a big spell chain, but physical maintenance, you silly ponies!)

I really wish they'd give the Crusaders their own spin-off series. I've heard that was the original plan.

It also gave a false hope that the plot wouldn't be formulaic after all.

I don't know if it's just me, but it seemed that this season focused more on single characters than their relations with others, like in season one.

At least, that's my impression from the episodes I can remember.

No, you pretty much hit the nail on the head. We've only had four real ensemble episodes so far: the 2-part season premier, Hearths Warming Eve, and The Last Roundup. All the others have either features side characters, the CMC, or are focused primarily on a single pony. The only real except is Sisterhooves Social, which has a fair bit of interaction between Rarity and Applejack.

I actually pointed out that tendency when I did my Overview of the first half of season 2. It's probably my main gripe about the season overall; I want more relationship based episodes.

Funny thing is that Twi going to the literal gates of hell to return their dog was little more than a two-minute gag for the show, where it would normally be worthy of an epic poem.

It's nearly treated as mundanely as Reimu making her way to the Sanzu River to find out why all the flowers were blooming everywhere again, or maybe that other time she went to a downsized portion of Old Hell to stop the flow of evil spirits from a geyser and ended up spanking a pyromaniac nuclear-powered hell-raven-girl for wanting to torch the surface.

Also as far as spinoffs go I would like more Daring Do or focus on our other favourite ponies. Like Lyra and Bon Bon.

A Lyra and Bon Bon sitcom with Derpy as the wacky neighbor would be awesome.

Unfortunately, if Daring Do appears again, it would Joss all our fanon.

We can then turn all our stuff into Expanded Universe works, lol.

Speaking of which, do you think we should change the title of Valley of the Grouchy? The title just sounds weird. Maybe something like Valley of the Lost would be better.

Remove the last y, you get Valley of the Grouch, which has a decent ring to it.

Speaking of that, have you been getting updates from the ones that don't typically post here, but agreed to write the stories?

Madame Pinkie was a great scene :D

I love how Pinkie obviously only makes predictions that she could cause to come true herself. I also like that for the most part she forgoes screwing with the laws of physics in favor of just being weird.
