Seen the new episode. Same opinions as most others, okay-ish. It felt it could have been funnier though. In contrast to Lesson Zero, where Twilight goes a little too over the top insane, she seems too subdued here and her neuroses don't seem as funny as they usually are. There are some funny bits though (balloon Pinkie will be a meme in due time).

Twilight: May I say this was a brilliant idea of yours.

Future Twilight: Don't get too self righteous, soon enough this will be your brilliant idea.

Twi's best scene was the one in her home with all the telescopes. She was just nuts.

@Ginger: All that I mean is that nothing particularly awesome about the writing or animation that's noticeably above average for the show. It's good but not in a "this is a better than average episode" sort of way. There aren't any really big issues, but there are assorted little things like Twi's OCD getting exaggerated at the beginning, the episode being a bit rushed, etc. It's not bad by any stretch of the imagination, but it's not stellar. I personally enjoyed it a lot just because the basic feel and concept of the episode appealed to me.

Now, by the sounds of what she was saying, specifically with regards to the aperture, it DID sound like she was asking Pinkie to adjust the Telescope so she wouldn't get blinded like that

. An aperture is an optical term that's used long before Portal exists. Specifically, it means the opening through which light comes through.

So, I thought when Twilight was saying Tartarus, she was pronouncing it with a different kind of spelling. Only when I checked the trope page did I realize she was saying Tartaurus. :3

@Crow I only know about apertures because of my work in film school with using video cameras.

I'm actually impressed that they gave a logical reason in dialogue for why Twi assumed that she could look at the sun like that
