This is one of those weird times where I personally enjoyed the episode a lot, (It's right on the edge of my top 5), but from a technical standpoint it's fairly middle of the road. Personal preference I guess.

So any bets on whether they'll keep the "everpony did it" ending? I'm guessing not, because so far when they reference something, they usually change the plot up. (With the exception of Sonic Rainboom).

@Storyyeller: The Butler Did It.

@Crowind: He's referring to Murder on the Orient Express. It's a famous murder mystery on a train where the big twist was (I'm assuming this falls under It Was His Sled territory) that every one of the suspects was responsible; they had all snuck into the victims cabin while he was sleeping and stabbed him at different points during the night and it was ultimately impossible to determine who did the fatal blow.

The equivalent in this episode would be if no one pony ruined the cake, and each of them just damaged it a little bit.
