Just wondering, why is RD so loved when she's by far the biggest (non-villain) jerk in the entire series?

Do bronies have a fetish for assholes or something?

I like her don't get me wrong, but the ammount of attention she gets can be kind of annoying

She's got attitude. Everybody loves ponies with attitude.

Gilda, Trixie, pegasi bulies, fillie libies are not villains to.

Even not compared to them RD is not that big jerk.

Dash is popular because she's a tomboy, she's "20% cooler" than most of the other main ponies, and she's an excellent target for shipping. durr.

Still not that jerk. She is jerk in some situation (mostly involving her glory) but she fix it, and many times she is not jerk at all (for exaple when she defend Flutershy in CMC).

I still love Rainbow Dash's "I got the tiiicket, I got the tiiicket!" because who else would dare to ruin the moment like that?

I think that people like Rainbow Dash because, according to the My Little Pony Physics Presentation, she was able to propel herself at 109 m/s², or 11.1Gs, in the span of 15 seconds by herself without harming her body and therefore she is a physics defying badass. I know that's why I like her

@randomguy Dashie being a tomboy is one of the reasons I thought she'd possibly end up my favourite (this was after I'd just done a little research and was aiming to watch my first episode). Either her or Fluttershy (although Dashie still had the leg up for being both a pegasus and a tomboy), anyway, since I've always like feathery wings and have therefore liked pegasi since before getting into the series proper. And then I watched the season, latched onto Twilight and debunked myself.

Well... I've liked horrible people purely because their badasses (coughJackRackancough) so I'm not really allowed to judge

I've always loved AJ cuz she's at least equal to RD in terms of ability, and is the mane cast's only true Badass Normal. That and being the Team Mom

Eh. I'm meh to both Applejack and Pinkie. I really liked her in party of one, but on the whole Pinkie just feels like a gag character to me, and I find Applejack pretty forgettable. I've actually had to stop and think to remember her when recounting the mane cast.

...My two favorite are the two unicorns, followed by the two pegasi, then the two earth ponies. I'm pony racist, aren't I?

I actually felt a jolt of pain when you said that

AJ is surely the least insane and quirky of the mane cast, but for some (like me) that's a major part of her charm. She's the Only Sane Man, the most wholesome resident of Ponyville. She's a welcome change from the OTT nature of the other ponies

That's actually the same reason I like Applejack to.

While I do consider Rainbow Dash to be my favorite pony, yeah she can be a real jerk(heart of gold size varying wildly). Though I guess her personality works because the show is mostly comedic and so are her acts of jerkiness.

I watched one called "Friendship is Witchcraft" where Rainbow Dash liked to say "rainbow" all the time. But that's really what distinguishes the new Rainbow Dash from both the old Rainbow Dash and Sonic, isn't it? She doesn't have to repeat a stupid catchphrase over the whole series; she only needs to say a funny phrase ONCE, and then her silly fans will repeat it a million times for her.

do we have a trope for when jerks are tolerated just because their acts of jerkiness are played for comedy?

Comedic Sociopath and... Unsympathetic Comedy Protagonist?

See, it's not that Applejack is the least Quirky of the cast that makes her forgettable for me. The Problem is that, to pretty much the last detail, I am Applejack. I'm also very much a Think Nothing of it sort of guy. So along comes Applejack, with all the same traits I just take as being granted...I just take for granted that she's around. To me, it feels almost like she has no defining traits.

Right, so, ponies. Does anybody pay attention to those 'ask a pony' things? I sorta pay attention to them when they crop up on Ponibooru...I've been thinking of getting more involved(ie. Asking a question, or starting an account of my own) because of this one, though.

There's her stubborness, her down to earth nature, her accent, her hesitance when it comes to lying, but if all these traits are things you already have then I can understand if you take them for granted
