Hi Everybody,

Aha we still having fun speculating on how Shinning Armor hooked up with Cadence? I like this.

Cadence is a sheltered Princess who wanted to see what the outside world looked like. One day she disguised herself and because she didn't know what the real world was like she got into some trouble when she gave Hobo Pony a bunch of cherries from the tetchy cherry vendor from Putting Your Hoof Down. Things get hairy with the guards getting involved one of them being Shinning Armor. He puts her off with his mock bravado but he's really a quiet guy and a good listener and he shares his sister's love of the night sky. And that's how Equestria was made.

Wait, when will she see an old man, a sick one and a funeral? I mean...

In A Slice of Life, that's part of her backstory. You'd be surprised what a hundred years of comfort food after banishing your sister can do to a pony. They had to cart her to her throne in a wheelbarrow.

I don't think it's quite that close. Winning a case is much more objective than being "satisfied". If Iron Will had said "I'll make you assertive or you don't have to pay", then it would fit better.

Except that she wasn't; her assertiveness made her a jerk, so she wasn't satisfied. She did learn to balance that assertiveness with not being a jerk, but not as the result of Iron Will's advice. He could make her assertive without making her happy about it.

Oh, sure. That's why the episode ended the way it did. But while Iron Will was asking for his money, the situation remind me of that paradox.

Yeah, they're definitely similar, I'm just not sure if it's a deliberate Shout Out.

I do think it's an interesting quandary though, by standing up to Iron Will and saying she wasn't satisfied with what she'd become and wouldn't pay him, she became exactly what she wanted and therefore should have been satisfied and given him payment.

Of course, you could get around that by saying that that wasn't because of his training, but I don't think that's true. She achieved her confidence through the training, her problem was that until that moment, she was applying it to the wrong situations.

I only just realised that Iron Will reminds me of Johnny Bravo.
