I could go either way on the naming thing; I think they both fit the personality that usually gets attributed to the character. As for how silly the name is; this is a show where the main character is called "Twilight Sparkle". Silliness has no bearing at all on whether the name fits or not.

Ditzy Doo is canonical name , but not canon for Derpy.
Yes it sound like name gived to her but unexepted internet fandom, this is why I prefer it.
Dinky is onother thing what I not accept for Derpy. For me Derpy is character in similar to Mane Cast age so she cant have kids.
Main reason why I hate Ditzy Doo name is that Ditzy Doo is canonicaly dumb, and I don't whant Derpy to be dumb.
I don't care what word meant more stupid character.

I have one teory what could be best.
Derpy is part of larger group (family, relatives, subrace of pegasi, clones) of ponies who have same look (with minor diffrent details like heir or eyes colour), many of them have name "Derpy Hooves", one have name "Ditzy Doo". And there is at least one pony for every fan teory for Derpy.

But if she is companion of Doctor Whoof, so yeah.

Kegisak has a point, Ditzy (the one mentioned in the show) isn't really portrayed as stupid. The only time she's ever mentioned as all is when they say she's bad with directions, which would kind of make sense given her eye thing

I'm with fan teory that Ditzy is red hairder version of derpy who show bringing birds at end of episode (it fit here preaty well).
Yes I ignore Dinky and make her Doctor Companion, even more, she is composite of pony Rose and Donna (one more reason against Dinky).
Like I said before, I prefer Ditzy and Derpy as seperate character.

Oh, that's true, yeah. But that's not really a stupidity thing, more of a clumsiness thing - you could easily attribute it to the fact that she'd lack any real depth-perception, being wall-eyed.

That doesn't mean she IS dumb, just that Dash thinks she's dumb. Besides, calling someone stupid (or some variation of it) is usually just a generic, stock insult many people (and ponies) use to insult someone. Dash was probably calling Ditzy stupid because she was angry at her for messing up

We have no solid reason to assume that Ditzy/Derpy is stupid, slow or clumzy in any possibe way. The lack oof direction thing is something ANYONE can do without the proper equipment (assuming it IS the same Ditzy at all) and regarding the truck scene: I've accidentally dropped things and I'm not all that clumzy, plus, wasn't there another person unloading the truck? Maybe that blunder was a joint effort.

Yeah, both pegasi looked a little abashed in that scene. I'd argue that being able to tell direction without a compass would be a very important skill for a pegasus of any occupation, though.

^^^Memorizing the general layout of Ponyville would definitely help, as would knowing where Sweet Apple Acres, the Everfree Forest, and other noticeable landmarks are in relation to town. The sun would help, too.
