@Crowfall: That's the difference between grad school and college, I guess. But yeah, a good chuck of any given class is basically "how is X applicable to the present day". Sometimes it's really interesting to work over the philosophical implications and differences in culture. Sometimes it's aggravating due to people projecting their own cultures into it. It's quite love it or hate it.

I've always hated Lit Crit when they appear to just be making nonsense up. I always had the feeling that a computer could be programmed to output indistinguishable text.

@Ginger No, I just have a weird thing about humanized characters. I still see them as the same character, regardless of form, so by being attracted to them, I feel like I'm attracted to their original form, which creeps me out a lot. It's completely irrational and silly, but it just keeps me from enjoying those types of things.
