Hang on, I need to change to my serious avatar.
Nobody will see through my disguise... this time...
I don't really think anyone in the show is a
Complete Monster. I just consider Gilda a total Jerkass
Future's so bright, I gotta wear shades
I look forward to reading your fic, Ginger.
EDIT: Moved down below.

@Parable. Luna regretted what she did, a Complete Monster would never regret their actions.
Not sure why this was directed at me.
Because "for the lulz" is a perfectly good reason to do something.
The only point I really want to advance here is that a jerk doesn't stop being a jerk just because they've had some hard times in the past. They're still every bit as much a jerk in the present. That's what really bothers me about the
Draco in Leather Pants and
Freudian Excuse tropes. What matters is trying in the present and wanting to improve in the future. That's what, to me, makes Gilda the worst of the three, and Luna the best.
Hell, it might be the only reason Gilda and Trixie aren't bigger villains than Nightmare Moon is because they're on a lower power tier; who knows what they'd do with alicorn power? I mean, if you're going to look at the
Inferred Holocaust as an indicator of Luna's personality, you've got to keep in mind that that sort of thing is not an
option for the other characters being considered.
Blueblood was an asshole
I think this is something that anyone who has ever heard of this show can agree with.

Personally, I blame Celestia for Blueblood's behavior.

She is obviously one of those rich relatives that spoils the kids and showers them with goodies. Blueblood became a good for nothing because he mooched off of her.
Because "for the lulz" is a perfectly good reason to do something.
The show's idealistic enough that I don't think it's unreasonable to assume that most of the antagonists are victims of their circumstances; Luna, Gilda and Trixie are willfully antagonistic and Blueblood is just entirely ignorant of the concept that people exist who don't live to please him, and while I'm not suggesting we entirely forgive Gilda for being a thief and scaring Granny Smith, or Trixie for being arrogant and annoying, I don't get the feeling that they're terrible people who couldn't learn better if they were shown some, ahem, love and tolerance.
Check that post again, Ginger. =D

Luna was influenced by an evil entity. Yes, she ultimately did make her own choice, but judging someone based on a single choice that they made while being affected by outside sources (especially evil ones) isn't exactly the best judge of character

WHERE IS THIS EVIL ENTITY WOG PEOPLE KEEP REFERENCING.

^^Exactly. While Gilda, Trixie and Blueblood weren't exactly being possessed by primal darkness to bring about eternal night, I think the general point we apologists are getting at is that you can't really judge someone as harshly as perhaps those three have been for their actions over what's, speaking relatively, a very short time.

I've thought it over and now think that Gilda and Trixie aren't all bad. anyway I originally wanted to focus on the Cutie Mark Crusaders.
I dunno, I just read earlier in the thread that it's apparently cannon that Luna was affected by some kind of evil entity. Just going off of what I heard

Exactly how this thing influenced her has never been made clear to me. Was it some Wormtongue/Sauromon deal? Samson and Delilah? A bunch of people goading her online?

At this point, I've ceased caring about the discussion
