Come to think of it, that could be an interesting story for the Cutie Mark Crusaders, where at least one of them gets annoyed at Cheerilee and wishes someone else could be their teacher, and then something happens that makes Cheerilee unable to teach for awhile and they end up wishing she would come back.

I actually don't think it's reasonable to assume that they start estrus when they're mentally mature. Humans sure don't.

I admit it would be extremely awkward to find out too much about that side of Equestrian culture, but I must sate my curiosity even if it costs me SAN points. I'm sure even Twi would want to learn about our human biology simply out of a thirst for knowledge.
