Eesh, Seraph, I really hope that turns out okay. That's a scary prospect...

In regards to the Trixie versus Blueblood thing, I will say that I don't really like either of them. Blueblood as marginally funnier, but Trixie was grating. I find the fandom's treatment of her rather irritating.

Also, restatement that the Trixie/Twilight pairing is phenomenally stupid.

Yeah. Sorry to say but I think I'm losing interest in the Ponies.

This is probably an unpopular opinion but I think Miyazaki movies are vastly overrated. They're beautifully animated, but story and character wise their pretty weak.

I actually agree to an extent. His earlier stuff was good, but he seems to have lost something as time went on.

Huh, someone said something negative about a Miyazaki film on the internet and wasn't immediately swallowed alive by a raging flame war? That's a first.

I've only ever seen Spirited Away, so I don't have any points of comparison to his other stuff. It's definitely one of my favorite anime productions of all time, though, right up there with Grave of the Fireflies...

Damn it, now I'm sad... sad

Only Miyazaki films I've seen are Howl's Moving Castle and Spirited Away, both of which I really liked.

I liked Spirited Away....there was just something off about it...Something that made me feel terrible about life.

We have My Neighbor Totoro on the Netflix queue, so I guess I'll be seeing that at some point.

Oh yeah, another reason I don't like Trixie: her episode kinda sucks. But it's mostly the fact that she's annoying and has annoying fans and an annoying ship.

@Pannic I'll agree with that. Trixie is the ONLY reason I think that ep is worthwile

The moral was kind of iffy too, I think. It wasn't really clear. Is it "Don't make your skills out to be more than they really are" or "Don't be scared to show off your talents to people?"

It was pretty much "don't be ashamed about what makes you special, but don't be a stuck-up bitch about it."

The Moral was "Don't be let fear of what your friends might think get in the way of doing the right thing."

I saw it more as, "trust your friends to accept you for who you are, don't hide a part of it just because your scared."

really THIS is what is so awesome about the show, it takes something that's nomrally so done so simply, and adds so many layers of meaning to it that everyone can see something different in.

Oooooooooor maybe it's a little clumsy about handling lessons sometimes. Either way, episode wasn't very good.

Yeah there's a lot of intelligence in this show's writing.

Only ones that was really clumsy about it were Feeling pinkie Keen, and Mare Do Well, the rest make clear at least one strong morale, but leave so many more possible ones open to interpretation.

It's very rare for a show to be able to stick in such a multi-faceted set of morals in. Granted a few of them were probably unintentional, but still, It's really impressive that they managed to fit them all in there.

I almost feel like the show would be better if they dropped the lessons completely. I can't think of one that wasn't either iffy or completely broken.

Trixie's was "if you advertise a product or service, its bragging. Ads suck. Incidentally, buy ponies!"

Eh, I don't have too many issues with the morals. The only ones I really had issues with were Feeling Pinkie Keen (mainly because it was worded horribly) and Cutie Mark Chronicles (because it's totally useless and not really true).

[up]I don't think that's what the moral was. It was more like "it's okay to be good at something, but don't use that to belittle others". It had nothing to do with selling a service.

I HATE Karma Houdinis enough as it is, that would probably get worse if they removed the morals completely

Morals have gotten better in the second season.

I recall with Party Of One there were some comments that mentioned that they could've gone with a "friends can't always party with you" message. And then along comes A Friend In Deed, which has that moral, more or less.
