This is probably an unpopular opinion but I think Miyazaki movies are vastly overrated. They're beautifully animated, but story and character wise their pretty weak.

I think it's less of a double standard and more of the fact that Trixie was actually interesting whereas Blueblood was pretty boring.

I think it's the fact that Trixie was a lot crueler than Blueblood, yet a lot of the fanbase woobie-fies her. I mean come on, Blueblood was a dick, sure, but Trixie not only made boasts she couldn't back up, humiliated various ponies, yet still thought she was better! I'd say that's a lot worse than just a simple jerky date.

I don't think that's really a double standard. Trixie was fun and entertaining, while Blueblood was designed to be unlikable. People aren't against Blueblood because he's a guy, its because he's a spoiled rich asshole. It is far easier to give Trixie a sympathetic backstory than Blueblood.

I definitely don't think Trixie was worse. Being boastful, arrogant, and showing up volunteers (volunteers, remember) was all part of her act, which was meant to entertain.

But we all just did.

@Librarian Trixie actually tried to help with a problem, even though it was for a selfish reason she atually tried to be helpful. She also admitted that she was a fraud. (even if she turned back to normal once the danger was over) Again, there was NOTHING interesting about Blueblood behind his dickishness.

Trixie has her Large Ham tendencies.

Trixie might objectively be more of a jerk, but she's an entertaining jerk. Plus, she doesn't seem to be well off, and her whole set up was destroyed. Blueblood is only slightly inconvenienced by what happens to him, and everyone hates a rich snob. Like I said, anyone can come up with a freudian excuse for Trixie, but what does Blueblood have? He grew up in a castle and got everything he ever wanted? Boo freaking hoo.

Got a court summons for tomorrow for eviction proceedings. Saw this coming for awhile, landlords a total plot-hole.

It really isn't a double standard though. Like Ginger said, people love the Flim Flams, and that's because they are entertaining jerks. If there's any sort of isms here, it's a classism issue. People aren't inclined to be generous towards people who are freaking royalty.

Holy crap, that sucks. Do you have someplace else to stay?
