So this one artist's Doctor/Derpy artwork varies between really adorable and kinda creepy.

Here's your pagetopper.

@ Red

Huh? The Everfree Fanon has a bit to do with it, but it's only a small part of my overall argument.

Is it Saturnspace? It is, and I totally agree. Sometimes I love their art, other times it's really unsettling.

Ginger: I rank protagonists and villains using different criteria.

Well... that's kind of weird. But OK, I guess it wouldn't interest you then. Moran is the main character anyway.

@Pannic: Creepy how?

Sloth can also be interpreted as willful ignorance. A common form of sloth is being able to stop something and not doing so. Of course that still makes for a fairly lax villain, but a potentially interesting one - Sloth can see everything that's going to happen, but refuses to act on it. He could be villainous by using that knowledge very sparingly to maniuplate the girls - hand out just enough information to get them going down the wrong path... it takes almost no effort on his part.

Alternatively, he could be a nega-friend. He doesn't want anyone around, just wants everything to go away... everything. Heck, you could tie the two together. He's tired of ponies always coming to him for advice because of what he knows, and he just wants them to go away... so he gives them false advice that leads to catastrophes.

Blue, generally the way that Derpy is continuously molesting the Doctor. And the accompanying tears from the doctor.

Everyone is coming up with really cool villain ideas... that wouldn't be appropriate for this show.

[up]Oh. Didn't really notice. Couldn't he, y'know, stop her? Being a super powerful, super intelligent, higher being? And she's only with him because he asked her along, right? Just dump her back in Ponyville if he doesn't like it.

Yeah, some of the pictures have that whole molestation/rape vibe.

Ginger, why in the world does a character's role in the story affect your opinion of them? What defines a character is the character itself, not their role. What you're essentially saying is that if they remade Code Geass from Schniezel's perspective, you wouldn't like the character anymore because he's the "protagonist".

Wrath could be like Russel Crowe's portrayal in South Park, an insanely angry lunatic picking a fight with everything and everyone. And winning...

@Blue basically, I rank a Protagonist's awesomeness based on how well they overcome adversity.

I rank a Villain's awesomeness on how competent they are and how easy they make things look. but the other type of criteria can bleed in as well depending on the situation. Basically, how good of an obstacle they serve.

A protagonist who's easily doing something is BAD in my books.

Why is that weird?

@Lurker no... no I wouldn't like that

Hm.. Ginger, I keep thinking you'd really enjoy Chasm City. It has both competent villains and competent heroes. Most importantly for me, it portrays them both with very human motivations. I especially think you'd enjoy the character of Schuyler Haussman.

That's completely understandable. But you are making assumptions without evidence. A villain protagonist can still "overcome adversity." Being good/bad has nothing to do with it.

@Mage: I would actually be interested in hearing the rest of it, then. =) Maybe through PM or something, though. I really can't think of anything else that connects Luna to freedom, so I would like to hear your take on it.
