The way I tend to look at Luna is basically she opened herself up to whatever corrupted her, but it did the corrupting. She still went bad, but she didn't quite realize the extent. Whether the other entity was conscious, a well of something inherently bad but not self-aware or some spell that she didn't understand, I won't speculate on. But I still think it was a joint effort. She didn't go all the way bad - she was well-intentioned, and something else drove her over the edge.
