Overall, I think they did a good job of balancing both perspectives - Pinkie's clearly in the wrong, but she never
intended to be obnoxious, and she does apologize and she's more considerate at the end.

How was Cranky being a jerk? Because he wasn't all smiles and singing and dancing? He was at least being polite, just quiet. Quiet is not the same as jerk. He was being perfectly fine until she got too pushy.

I think the ending colud've been better if we had SOME explanation for why Matilda left early after the party without telling Cranky. A reason that makes sense to us in this in-universe.
