I was just on a /co/ MLP general thread. Right out of nowhere, someone gets on a soapbox and starts defending pedophilia and child pornography.

Fuck.

Another thing about Rainbow Dash, Fluttershy, and Pinkie Pie: when created in G3, they were all Earth ponies!

I can't really make myself dislike Trixie. Sure she was a braggart individual. So what? I brag about what I'm good at. Does that make me a bad person?

No, Gilda was the only real 'jerk ass'.

...
Oh yeah, Blueblood. Blueblood was just a egocentric douche. No actual malice, really.

I have no idea why Trixie is so popular. She's irritating and has no redeeming qualities.

I've been thinking about the "baby dragon" thing, vis-a-vis Spike's literacy, ability to responsibly handle tasks, and crush on Rarity.

Is it that there's no word for "child" in Equestrian, so all prepubescent creatures are called babies?

That, plus she was an entertainer. I mean, if anyone's gonna go see her shows, she has to try and convince them she's impressive, right?

No, Spike is very young. Also a dragon. Dragons live ... forever unless stated otherwise so I imagine their baby stage could last a long, long time.

Trixie was a cool character, and I hope she comes back in season two.
[up]Absolutely. At least she didn't take the Chris Angel route of self-advertisement.

For some reason, I never bought the "she's justified because she's an entertainer" line. I draw a comparison to trying to excuse Harold Hill as "just a guy selling instruments."

I am really starting to hate Ponychan, I've aparently become the Gilda of Pony chan, even when i'm trying to be freaking nice I'm apparently being a jerk. i think i'm just going to walk away. In fact I have, i really don't care what the next response is I'm just going to walk away and pretend i never heard of it.

If one wants to make a living out of performing magic in a world where a third of the population is magical, one has to make oneself stand out.

Also, heckling a performer on-stage isn't a good way to get them to like you, or even be nice to you, in the future.

I don't deny that Trixie is an egotistical jerk, but she isn't nearly as bad as, say, Gilda is. Plus she manages to be entertaining, so she ends up being way more likable than other villains.

@Central Avenue

I thought that way when I first saw the episode.

I'm starting to think that way again, partly due to a poster on TZ offering an Alternate Character Interpretation on those lines.

For some reason I want to see a "fake" pony magician who uses deception and sleight-of-hoof instead of actual magic.

He/she would do little tricks that don't impress the audience because they're easily done with real magic. Then the true entertainment value comes after each trick when he reveals how it's done and the audience finds out they've been duped.

It's funny, Pony Penn & Teller was actually what I had in mind when I first thought about this a few months back.

I have no idea why Trixie is so popular. She's irritating and has no redeeming qualities.

I think its a mix of the over-the-top way she emphasizes "the GREAT and POWERFUL TRIXIE!!!" and the cute way she says "naysayers." Her cape and hat are stylish in their simplicity, and to be honest I can't help but find something interesting when, in a world where ponies have names like "Big Macintosh" and "Sweetie Belle" and "Pinkamena Diane Pie, " we have someone with such a plain name as "Trixie."

That's about it, really.

@Crowfall That parasprite is really cute. Too bad it will destroy you. FOR-EVER. tongue

What kind of bugged me about Trixie's stage act is that she didn't actually do anything better. With Applejack and Dashie, she just assaulted them. And then with Rarity, Trixie just messed her hair up.

I've got another of Eventua's OC ponies coloured. For those curious why my URL has changed again, I realized I overbought in terms of packages and downgraded to save a pretty good chunk of change, which involved going to a different provider. I took my domain with me, but it apparently takes some time for the mapping to change, so until then, gogo default Word Press URL!

Is it heckling if the "performer" is the one picking fights?

[up][up]Excuse me while I slip on my Trixie defense pants.

Ahhh, cozy.

Trixie isn't going to be able to out rodeo Applejack or out style Rarity, because those aren't her talents (and she can't out fly Rainbow Dash for obvious reasons). She's a stage magician, she isn't going to be able to do better than the mane ponies in areas they're trained in. But these are hecklers who came up on stage and are trying to one up her. She has to show them up or she'll lose the crowd, which basically wastes her trip to Ponyville. So since she can't beat them at their own game, she cheats a little to keep the crowd on her side.

Granted, she probably shouldn't have invited them up on stage to begin with.
