[up]But after time they start make fun of their formula or start subveting it.
They are like the others. Strange, hideous, resisting, fighting. Only these were not like the others. They did not die.

I agree; one of the best things about the show is that they can take standard aesops and morals and use them in a way that isn't Tastes Like Diabetes.

Your right, like in Cutie Mark Chronicles, Spike basically calls Twilight out on being too mushy, and reiterates that there WAS no real moral of that story

Wait what's not to like about Over A Barrel? Is it too Anvilicious or something?
I think one criticism was that the conflict wasn't about the main characters so much, so it was like one of those old G1 cartoons where the ponies were essentially filler characters in their own show. (But I thought that was kind of the point: Stop trying to fight other people's battles for them!) Also I bet a lot of folks couldn't get over "What, really, PIES as WEAPONS?"

I thought that the message of WWU was that knowing your strengths is good, and that proper organization is a path to success.
"Shee-eesh! Somebody needs to teach these guys organization and teamwork!" (sorry)

Not the exact ending, but it was pretty easy to see that the Gala was going the route of "they're going to realize that it would have only been fun if they were with each other",
Just the other day I realized why so many fans groaned over reading an early synopsis of "The Ticket Master": My Little Pony Tales used the same plot! I'll let you decide which show did it better, though...

That being said I don't get where people are getting that the second season will have more of those elements. The only thing that even hinted at that was that there were going to be villains in season two.
And even then, we can't say what kind of villainy that will be. For all we know, it could just mean "Messin' with more grumpy dragons." Also I wonder if one reason for Lauren Faust leaving was that she didn't get to change the general direction of the second season at all... but I also wonder if she shouldn't have to keep putting up with wild rumors, so maybe you should just ignore this thought.

Scientific term for magical thing?
Sure, why not? I get a kick out of the Sufficiently Analyzed Magic.

For some insane reason i'm imagining the Apple family running an apple establishment similar to Pawn Stars. Big Mac is Rick (unfortunately, he can't be "Big Hoss"), Granny Smith is The Old Man, and Applejack is Corey. And then Applebloom can be Chumlee. It works out.

One thing I love is that the show has it's own rules and a sense of Magic A is Magic A. They set up how part of the world works and they stick to it. I especially love how the planet's ecosystem itself seems to be controlled by the ponies, and the seasons can't even change without their collective help, and the way they've trivialized the ordeals. (Like Winter to Spring is just a day of hardwork, and the falling of the leaves in autumn is triggered by a race.) It's just really clever.

I kinda want to see an episode where one specific town refuses to change seasons, and choose to stay in eternal winter or something.

Want my idea as to why it's like that...

wild mass guess The planet Equestria is on... DOES NOT REVOLVE! It doesn't revolve, so the sun and moon need to be manually moved to initiate the day/night cycle, and it has no tilt, so seasons cannot naturally occur. wild mass guess

Maybe Celestia's doing it on purpose. Why I have no idea, but it makes for good teamwork-building exercises

Wait, didn't they say that the weather and such changes natrually in the everfree forest?

To me it's a little creepy. Like, they're saying if those trees didn't receive the proper amount of wind, the dying leaves would steadfastly cling to them and choke them to death or something? It just seems like large portions of the world are frighteningly broken if the ponies have to do so much.

Maybe Celestia's doing it on purpose. Why I have no idea, but it makes for good teamwork-building exercises
Or that's the other scary idea, that it's mostly just a hoax the rulers of Equestria have pulled over on everyone!

The planet Equestria is on... DOES NOT REVOLVE! It doesn't revolve, so the sun and moon need to be manually moved to initiate the day/night cycle, and it has no tilt, so seasons cannot naturally occur.
I find it strange that it's easier to move something thousands of times larger, millions of miles away, than to just add some rotational velocity to the thing you're already standing on.

wild mass guessmaybe if the areas aren't tended to properly, they end up like the everfree forest. Meaning that without Pony help, the ecosystem will become autonomous, but for some reason the people in charge of The Masquerade don't want that to happen.wild mass guess

wild mass guessMaybe Zecorah is part of a race of more Au Naturale creatures, who just want to let nature run it's course without constant pony interventionwild mass guess

I think the leaf run is just ponies having fun, not an essential task.

Also, the Sun isn't that big, it's really rather tiny compared to the world Equestria is on. Look in the sky sometime, Rainbow Dash is almost as big as it.

but they seem to act like it's important, they say that the running makes the leaves fall

And there's a big celebration for Groundhog's Day, but let's face it, nobody cares about Phil.

If they really were worried about the leaves, they'd get a bunch of Pegasus ponies to work up a windstorm.

You know, I wonder how many background [[Ensemble Darkhorse Ensemble Darkponies]] there are in total. The ones I know of are Ditzy Doo/Derpy Hooves, Dinky Doo, Lyra, Bonbon, Carrot Top, Colgate, Dr. Whoof, Vinyl Scratch/DJ PON-3 and Octavia

Are there any others that I don't know of?

"Wait, didn't they say that the weather and such changes natrually in the everfree forest?"

I believe so. The ponies don't normally go in there so everything happens naturally, forever free of manipulation.

Though now I wonder if this is because a bunch of monsters live there and everyone's too scared to go in or if its some sort of national park or nature preserve and its illegal for them to do do anything about it.
Because "for the lulz" is a perfectly good reason to do something.

I'd say it depends on the pony. Fluttershy is terrified of the place (yet lives right next to it?) but Twilight seems fascinated by it, and of course Zecorah LIVES there so she must respect it to a point
