I agree (and posted there as such). The idea is definitely a trope, but there's no reason to limit it to just ponies.

Well I agree than expanded trope can work. Horever it need pony picture.

I don't know, it doesn't seem to me like that actually happens broadly enough to warrent a trope...but then again, I don't pay attention to most fandoms, so it could have easily slipped past me and I'd never had known.

I was rewatching Green Isn't Your Colour and I just realised, there's something about the opening that bugged me. Fluttershy and Rarity were at the Spa having "the usual" yet Fluttershy seemed to be getting gipped (like she only had 2 spots of mud put on her face wheras Rarity had a full mask, and Rarity was getting cushions for her massage when Fluttershy didn't) there's just something weird about it, also, Fluttershy was wearing a nervous smile through all of it, does that mean that she didn't want to be there? I just found it bizzare

Fluttershy does it for Rarity, but sets a limit on the pampering she considers acceptable, whereas Rarity is more indulgent.

She also declines when the spa pony comes in with the file, so I just assumed it was a personal choice to have less pampering. It could have also been to show that she's beautiful enough on her own and doesn't need much to look her best, since the episode is about her becoming a model.

What they said. Fluttershy strikes me as the type of pony who's content with the more simple pleasures in life and wouldn't really care so much for the more elaborate spa treatments.

Yeah. Fluttershy also strikes me as a natural beauty, as opposed to Rarity - who, though she is beautiful, feels the need to wear fancy dresses, headdresses, etc. and to accessorize it. It's a more intentional, structured form of beauty that Rarity's after.
