Given Fluttershy's doting nature, she probably reject being doted upon herself naturally. Sort of a, 'no, don't trouble yourself for me' attitude, more than just knowing she doesn't need the help, to my mind.

They gave their hooves a soak, not a filing.

Besides, you think they'd do a pedicure in the hornicure room?

[up]Sure, why not? And if you'll pardon some blatant over analysis, in that scene the blue spa pony zips right up onto the platform Rarity is on so she can get at the horn, while the pink one comes up next to the platform where she can reach the hooves.

Yeah, maybe we're worrying too much about it.

Regardless, Fluttershy passed on it.

Behind the scenes stuff. Twilight is obviously not being voiced by Tara Strong for this particular session.

Maybe Fluttershy is a bit more frugal too, since at least if Equestria spas are like real life spas, the treatments tend to be expensive. >.>

This is really late tonight, but I've got a new comic page. Not only that, but I've got a .com address now and I've upgraded to Wordpress from the ye olde frames my old site had. Anyway, here's the link: http://www.no-contest-creations.com/?p=18

[up]I'd call Poe's Law on that, except it isn't interesting or funny enough to be a parody.

I can't stand listening to a prat like him. Can someone give me the cliffnotes on how MLP is in ANY way sexist?

I only skimmed it, but points that stood out to me were:

  • The two white Pegasi being "forced" to pull Twilight's carriage to Ponyville.
    • The fact that they neigh in acknowledgment instead of speak when Twilight thanks them means that male ponies are incapable of intelligent thought.
  • Big Mac is one of the only recurring male ponies, and he is clearly a workhorse, which, coupled with the above point, illustrates that the show regulates males into lower, labor-based roles.
  • Hoity Toity liked the dresses that the female ponies considered "trash, " therefore the opinion of males is equivalent to trash
  • There was also a clip of Blueblood in there.

The Hoity Toity one was definitely the most ridiculous leap of logic I saw, but I was only just skimming. I couldn't even stand to hear what he'd say about Blueblood.

Because obviously ponies and bright colors and magic are all girly, and because lessons for girls have to be couched in girly things for them to learn.

Nevermind that the series passes The Bechdel Test so hard it actually fails the inverse Bechdel Test, to my recollection, or that the main characters are all presented as likeable, (mostly) intelligent, and independent young women who solve their own problems. Basically: don't feed the troll.

I'd be interested in hearing a synopsis of what the video says, though, if only to better combat it. I can't be bothered to actually listen to that guy's voice for more than ten seconds, though.

^Oh, misandrism, huh...? That makes more sense from a bashing point of view, I suppose.

Typical Unfortunate Implications stuff in that video, it better just ignore this.

Edit: OK not that typical but still.

Yeah, my thoughts on the video were, 'your voice is annoying, and I don't care about what you have to say. Leaving now.'

And while I realize that's not fair, really, we haven't shown enough Male characters in enough depth to really call this show one way or another. Every point is tiny and can be countered by another. Those guards are countered by the implication that Big Mac is smarter than his sister, and by all of the male character who have spoken. The service point is countered by Mr. Cake running his own bakery, and so on. And the Hoity Toity point was...what? I mean, he liked the dresses that the show said were good. As in, his opinion coincides with that of the fashion-conscious character...

Also the fact you can clearly hear him start to laugh, he can't even take HIS OWN argument seriously

I love Big Mac, but no, just no. What he has is more sense and wisdom. And Apple Jack was more in denial than actually being less smart.

Really? Is there any evidence that Applejack is smarter than Big Mac? Cuz I think it'd be cool if he WAS really intelligent (but Big Mac is the most awesome character in the show so I'm kinda biased)

That's something though, Is Big Mac STRONGER than Applejack? The show seems to treat AJ like this massive athlete, yet it's implied that Big Mac can do twice as much work than her, in just as much time as she can, while not being worn out as much by it.

I find it hard to tell if Big Mac is smarter than Applejack. BM is older which would mean that he's had more time to learn than AJ, however, AJ lived in Manehattan for a while and learned a few things from her aunt and uncle Orange.

I noticed in Fall Weather friends that Applejack seemed to be stronger than Rainbow Dash, and beat her in most strength related events. Then Rainbow Dash beats her in HOOF WRESTLING?

Well, you remember how in "Applebuck Season" Applejack says "Don't you use your fancy mathematics t'muddy the issue!" implying she's not good of math, while Big Mac is.
