@Enlong: To be fair, the CompleteMonsters tend to get killed too. It's only the Chessmasters and MagnificentBastards (good or bad) who are relatively safe.

However, being The Chessmaster tends to catch the eye of similar characters, and colliding machinations tend to end badly for at least one of them.

Tyrion is a prime example. On top of the world at the end of book 2, and book 3 details a long slide into ruin.

The problem with that is that my sympathies get stretched, and I end up with no desire to see ANYONE win or lose. Leaving me with no reason to care.

But of course, I'm alone in thinking that. No one takes me seriously when I say that I prefer White and Grey Morality over Grey and Grey Morality.

That is a looming problem with Grey and Grey Morality. I just think that ASOIAF handles it pretty well.

Granted, I'm only at the end of the third book, but there are people who I think I would like to see "win". Though in some cases, it's a bit of a Godzilla Threshold thing. Or perhaps I should say "Dragon Threshold".

edit: Oh right. Yeah, Black and Grey Morality fits better.

There are morally ambiguous characters, then there are well and true monsters that you want to see killed.

Yeah, ASOIAF is actually more Black and Grey Morality, it's just that the Complete Monster characters are all minor. Anyone who actually gets focus in a grey character.

I meant is there a right SIDE?! Not certain individuals. I sided with Britannia in Code Geass but I still thought Luciano Bradley was an (AWESOME) Complete Monster who needed to be stopped.

Actually, I think that, with the state Westeros is in at the end of Storm of Swords, it'd probably be for the best if she actually managed to swoop in and take over. There are a few other factions that I'd like to see win, mainly because they're better choices than the Lannisters.

Then again, at the end of ASOS, most of the Lannisters that I truly hated are dead.

...man, I really gotta start reading A Feast For Crows.

edit: Are the Others really a "Faction", though?

Sadly, the Red Wedding kinda crushed the third faction that I was rooting for.

@Applelight, Dead dead dead dying? I've been doin' Oblivion for the time being. Bioshock freaks me out. The dark atmosphere, the crazy people in masks coming out after you suddenly, and the fact i hate horror/scary things and I kind of suck at first person shooters and every shot I fire is an instant miss...

And we don't need to talk about this... At all... Character design is character design, she only changes if her character suddenly changed.
