Well it is fun to buff them.

After all, depending on how you stretch subtle, you might end up with Earth Ponies doing Bending.

I still prefer them as wildcards with more skilling options because they don't need to devote time to learn an extended racial power. After all, pegasi and unicorns need to spend skill points relearning their flight and magic after their baby instincts fade.

Earth ponies get prehensile tails and probably invented pony martial arts, whereas Pegasi would have relied on their flight superiority and weather power.

Bending is rarely subtle.

In The Elements Of Harmony Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy can't easily carry other ponies, thus implying that that doesn't work on other ponies.

Some suggestions for EP traits, Fallout style:

Popeye power: When this pony eats their trademark food, they double their strength, their endurance, their sprint meter stays full, and they gain a speed boost...for 2 mins.

Edit: I got it!

Your powers are related to your CM, but your race has powers too. So a Pegasi could be an animal lover...but an EP chief will always be superior to a unicorn one.

@Ginger: Imagine a wrinkled Earth Pony old master give an arrogant pegasus a thorough tossing with a pony-form of akido, flipping them expertly everywhere any time the pegasus charges him. Flight if applied wrong turns your wings into an extra point of weakness.

I'm imagining something more flavored. Wildcard Blank: You have no Cutie Mark, and thus no defining talent. However, like the legendary Cutie Mark Crusaders, you are not bound by a chosen specialization and can learn anything you want. For now. (Gives you extra skill points per level until you get your Cutie Mark)

@ Ginger: My mistake then. Though there is probably be a limit to the Pegasus Tactile Telekinesis. Rainbow couldn't lift a statue and it takes two guards to pull a chariot (thought that could be so in case of attack one can hold them off and the other can get the passenger to safety).

Are you judging all non Earth Ponies by two Unicorns?

Pegasus Tactile Telekinesis doesn't have a significant stength modifier, mainly a grip and dexterity modifier.

Look closer at Earth Ponies, some of them exhibit prehensile tails which are mostly ponyhair.

I'm fairly sure that Pegasus telekenesis is limited in strength to the actual physical strength of the pony using it. If they wouldn't be able to pull it physically, they can't pull it through the air. So, no, it doesn't undermine EP strength at all, Ginger. (And don't even bring up Pound Cake. That was baby magic, and we still have no idea how exactly that works.)

So, in this game...maybe the early levels are you as a blank flank kid...you do minor quests etc...working up to your CM...then the game flashes forward to you as an adult?

@ Apple: Maybe have the game let you grow up at some point through the storyline. Ocarina of Time did it, as did some of the Dragon Quests.

Well...not just them. Think back to Twilight in Winter Wrap Up.

The Earth Ponies are above all else compassioant and careing. The (pun not intended) are "closer to earth", and have a better understanding of nature and what not. They know that it takes time and care to do things right and that stripping the land or taking the easy way out may look good in the short run but will hurt in the long run.

E Ps are a kind of What Kind of Lame Power Is Heart, Anyway??/Heart Is an Awesome Power type situation. The are more grounded then the other two races, more concerend with the long term.

I'd argue that they lost because they were idiots. If they'd just said no to Twilight they'd have won without compromising quality.

Not that I'm saying they should have won. Eventually they probably would have compromised quality, which is bad.

The Pegasi still need to be able to actually lift the object to fly it with. So RD would not be able to fly that runaway bus.
