Actually, most of the synopsises we get usually are right, they just start off being vague and become more specific as the episode comes closer. We have a list.

On Nightmare Moon Big Bad. She was the Big Bad. Her backstory set up the plot of the first episode and ultimately the reason the series exists if you want to stretch it. Same with Discord. Both are defeated by their second episode, which does make things a little blurry, but they're both the strongest villains in their respective seasons.

There is shoehorning though. Someone added Flying Brick to Derpy's entry (I removed it). Really? Because she broke a support beam and a wooden floor?

Anyways, H&H screenshots! From the looks of it the CMC somehow convince Mac and Cheerilee to have a picnic. This seems to suggest that, potion or not they're perfectly open to having a picnic together. Or the CMC tricked them and they're just being nice about it when they arrive.

Either way, this may mean bad news for my bet... *gulp*

Nightmare Moon doesn't recur often enough to be a Big Bad. She could be considered the Big Bad of the opener, but I'm not sure if that's enough.

That's not really what Big Bad means though. She wasn't responsible for SS or DT, or Trixie or Gilda. She started the plot, but she doesn't maintain it.

This show doesn't strike me as one that really has a big bad.

Anyway, these H&H screenshots have me excited. I think they went on the picnic to humor the kids...then got hit with the love potion...it wore offjust before they were about to marry each other.

A Big Bad could be a character with evil designs, or it could be a situation, such as a comet heading towards the Earth. It is behind all of the other bad happenings. The Big Bad can (and often does) exert effect across a number of episodes, and even an entire season.

NMM meets all of these qualifications. She dosen't need to cause everything bad that has ever happened just some of it.
