[up][up] True. The moment they got their cutie marks must have been kind of twisted.

@Kuroi You never felt it?

I try to see everybodies good qualities, and I see more good in SS than in DT. waii

For one she genuinely seems to care about her friend (she stuck with DT despite everyone else turning against her at her own party, and even tried to cheer her up), and she joyfully applauded Granny Smith before ANYONE else did.

[up][up] What, the moment where Silver Spoon realised she loved cooking and Diamond Tiara loved Gem Crafting? That doesn't seem so twisted to me.

Their Cutie Marks don't need to symbolise bad traits.

So it turns out I had a quiz today. Curse you ponies, you have distracted me from my studies.

I have heard complaints about the Cutie Mark Crusaders being spotlight stealers. About how many episodes do they get? I don't dislike them or anything, I am simply curious as to the foundation of that.

And as someone pointed out... Silver Spoon's Cutie mark has a HEART in it waii

To be fair, Ginger, those are very blink-and-you-miss-it moments, and only say she isn't shallow, not that she isn't a jerk.

[up][up][up] Counting Call of the Cutie, they have four in Series One.

Afternoon everyone.

[up][up][up][up]They have three more in season one, and so far they have three in season two.

@Lurker hence why I say she's a Jerk with a Heart of Gold

You people. All you care about are big, flashy moments. I was right, this is exactly why I get upset when AJ doesn't get any big moments... because no one cares enough to look at the subtle stuff

I still hold to the fact that they'll probably grow out of it. I've known plenty of people who were complete jerks as children, but grew out of it. I could easily see DT and SS learning to get along better with the CMC, if not actually becoming friends.

@Crowfall: I wouldn't say they have that many in Season 2. Only the "Cutie Pox" episode was actually about their crusading; the other episodes use the characters, but in different capacities. Most of the complaints about them in season one wasn't so much the time they got, so much as they basically did the same thing every time they got an episode.

I don't care about Flashy moments Ginger, I care about Funny moments! And you have to admit, AJ does have the funniest letter so far.

[up][up]Sure, she has her nice moments, but it's hard to the deny that the jerkish ones are more common and more emphasized. I totally agree that both of them have their good points (like SS clapping for Granny Smith), but they definitely have a ways to go.

@Cookoo yeah, I'm just saying that I think it's a bit hypocritical for people to say that flashy moments aren't that big a deal, then wheel around and say that they don't care for subtle stuff.

[up] I say her nigh constant jerkishness is what makes her nice moments so meaningful and satisfying. waii but that's just me

Fair enough, they have three episodes in season two where they are featured prominently, though in two of them they are interacting closer with the regular cast.

Silver Spoon strikes me as someone who is only a jerk because her best friend is. She wants to fit in with DT, but her heart isn't really into the bullying.

Ginger: Wow, man, less ad hominem, please.

I do see your point with her loyalty, but that's just one incident in a slew of negative behaviour. She has some of my respect for that, but she has yet to earn the rest.

As for Granny Smith's story, I just saw it as it was just that awe inspiring that she couldn't help but applaud. I can see how it could be interpreted your way, but I'm not entirely convinced.

@crow That's what I think. Most of her bullying doesn't seem to spawn from maliciousness towards AB. It seems more like she's thinking: "Will saying this make DT like me more?"

[up] DT didn't clap.

edit: oh, sorry. I did remove the comment when I realized that it was too rude

Yeah, I could definitely see that. I wonder if we'll ever get an episode that fleshes the two of them out a bit more. I'd kinda like to see it, but not at the expense of the main cast.

[up] Heh. Why Not?! [lol][lol] (said happily)

Redemption stories... always fun. A well fleshed out antagonist can be even more interesting and compelling than the protagonist.

... Oh wait, only I think like that. [lol]

If they're going to devote time to fleshing out antagonists, I'd much rather they spent the time on someone who's antagonizing the mane cast. While I can certainly see ways DT and SS could be developed, none of them are nearly as interesting as what could be done with, say, Trixie or Gilda.

You do realize that what defines a protagonist/antagonist is their role in the story, right, Ginger? If an antagonist gets a focus episode, for that episode they are the protagonist. What matters is the character, not the roll.
