Almost positive that the Flim Flam brother wihout the mustache is voiced by Sam Vincent. Not sure about the other one. My gut says Scott Mcneil just cause he has like a billion voices and is in absolutly everything.

Once the contest started I expected the Bros. to make more cider than the apples, (without the quality control issue, ) then just when all seems lost somepony tastes the stuff and says that it tasts like crap. Then Granny tells Twilight that the apples in the south field are always crappy for making cider, or maybe that they had a catterpiller infestation in that particular field that year.

Kind of. They keep up a good show for the public, but in private, or when dealing with ""competitors, " I can toatlly see that.

Anyway, I just went through the wikipedia page for cider. Seems the Apples ony did the pressing part and didn't do the fermentation part, or the optional blending stage.

Since Faust is no longer present, it wouldn't surprise me if Love was SE3's next theme. Though that can distract from the series if not handled properly.

@Mio Well, I found out a bit of who's who, and it's surprising what a lot of you sound like. Also, Unreliable Lisa needs to be a meme if she isn't already.

I don't see how this is a throwaway just because there was no lesson learned. I mean there was still a very obvious moral, it's just that AJ knew it already.

The only thing that bothers me about this episode is that, with a bit of reasonable haggling, this could have been solved with a significant benefit to both sides. Flim and Flam need the apples to make cider, right? And they can make it far faster than AJ and her family could. Now, the apple family needs the profit from Cider to keep their business afloat through the winter, but here's the thing: they have to use apples to make that cider. Which means that the issue is likely that demand for apples themselves goes down during the winter, not that they run out of apples, otherwise they could just make the same profits by selling the apples.

But now, who could they maybe sell those apples to?

It's two bits a pop for a mug of cider. That comes out to at least a couple apples, which means we're looking at a rough price of say, a bit to an apple. Sell all those leftover apples to Flim and Flam. They mark the price up a bit (two, three bits to a mug), and sell that. Or, mark off a section of the orchard for Flim and Flam to take from for a reasonable price. Enough to keep you afloat through the winter. They'd be making the same amount of money, if not more, and Flim and Flam could set up a nice business and spend their spare time industrializing ponyville with their godawesome steampunk(magepunk?) technology.

I think the problem, kegi... is that the apples clearly don't want help, and the Flim Flams clearly don't wanna settle down.

If the Apples accepted help, then they would've hired farmhands YEARS ago.

The Flim Flams introduced themselves as TRAVELLING salesponies. i bet they travel around taking over every orchard they see. Compromise is NOT what their modus operandi

The Flim Flams wanted a 75/25 split of the profits in their favour. Even if the Apples had managed to talk them down to a resonable price those two just aren't trustworthy. Sooner or later they'd have found some way to screw over the Apples and run off with a ton of cash.

Besides, Those apples are still on the tress. It may take longer but eventually all the apples (they planned on turning to cider) will get made into cider anyway.

You are right poor apples other ponies are becoming rich with their apples but them. Like filthy rich, the apples help him to reamin rich and they are still poor.
