@Crow Yeah, that's true. I just don't want to think of these guys as somehow being justified in what they did. I like sympathetic villains, but I also like them to STILL BE VILLAINS

I see them more as rivals than antagonist or villains. They were just overconfident and arrogant.

Running into town and bilking as much as possible before absconding may not be as high level villainy as massive corporate takovers, but it still makes them villains.

@ Bunai: But they were planning to stay. They even renamed Sweet Apple Acres, Flim Flam Fields.

@ L Mage: Yeah they had less output but only when outnumbered 9 to 2. Before that they were making more cider at a good quality.

Antagonist is just... the character opposing the protagonist. That's what they were. At the very least they were antagonists

Which kind of worries me since wood alcohol is nasty stuff.

I'm not sure how lethal it is to horses, but humans can be killed by 30mL of methanol.

Think about this. This proved that the Flims Flams DO NOT work well under ANY kind of pressure, nor do they give a shit about their product. ONE business starts to outdo them and their response was to forsake ANY kind of quality and to start DESTROYING stuff?

For business types...that's... not a good thing

Death mentioned Thor pony, but did anyone notice there were actually several new background ponies this episode? There was also a pony with a wrench cutie mark, and a unicorn with Cheerilee's colors (a nod to the original G3 Cheerilee, maybe?)

I can see the Dr. Seuss connection as well, but I think the Super Cider Squeezy looked like something out of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. Like a cross between the car driven by fizzy gas and the machine that makes the three-course-meal gum.

The Flim Flam brothers really should just stick to being inventors. They're clearly better at it than they are at business. Maybe if they weren't trying to run folks out of business with their creations Equestria could see some progress.

@ Bunai: That's what I was wondering about. If they have no way of regrowing the crops then they'd have to leave after one harvest. If this was the case about Unicorns you'd think someone would bring up the fact that if they took over Sweet Apple Acres while everybody would have cider one year, nobody would have any apple products again.

Probably. Unless most orchards are like Sweet Apple Acres in the fact that they think that they can do a better job than the machine. And given that I think most orchards are run by the Apple Family I don't think it would end well.

Possible. Caramel works for the Apples occasionally, doesn't he? He could get the job.

I think the problem is that they only made one. They probably didn't wanna make another one, because that would take time out of their busy travelling schedule.

That's exactly what I said like two pages ago. Or rather I said they should rent the things out. It would make a lot more sense, but it would take longer to see results. They seem more interested in making a quick profit.

@Badwolfwho . Yeah, lol. Now this goes into a whole bunch of theories. Such as shutting down Apple Acres but keeping the family simply as low paid laborers. This includes bringing in more Earth ponies to farm the land.
