As kinda cute as Spike's crush on rarity is, I really want to see Spike grow past it. Not because I have any issues with a dragon hooking up with a pony, but because he needs to realize his crush is in part childish infatuation.

Ginger, I'd argue crying or sorrow can be cathartic. Take the film adaptation of The Fox and the Hound for example, that's a beautiful statement on friendship, yet people inevitably cry at it's conclusion, not because it's deeply depressing, but because it's cathartic. Another example is The Yiddish Policeman's Union, the lead characters essentially fail in most of their goals, yet the ending still carries a good deal of catharsis for the reader. Another good example is Philip Dick's The Simulacra, humanity is on the verge of destruction, yet a few people have uncovered the objective truth of the world and learned the existential human need people have of confiding and connecting with people. The sadness does not overshadow the ending, instead it encourages catharsis and the admission of loneliness so that we may be able to interact with others on a more meaningful level and so that we find the comfort in each other we may otherwise ignore.

The Hub is now taking votes for their Mare-a-thon leading up to "Hearts and Hooves Day". This is the second half of that poll on Equestria Daily earlier this month.

I mean, Drenius has a point. If Spike's crush on Rarity does mature into responsible, real love, then I'll have no problem with it, but he's infatuated right now.

Aw, why didn't "A Bird in the Hoof" make it in? That was one of my favorite episodes. Also, I find it amusing that "Return of Harmony pt.1" made it in, but part 2 didn't.

Even if it is my story, I like to think of this as a Spike/Rarity story that just ''works''.

I'm not sure how they decided which episodes go on. Seems kind of random, and completely in favor of new episodes.

I think it's based at least partially off of the Equestria Daily poll. That one had all the episodes on it, so I'm guessing that they took like the 20 most popular from that poll and put them up for a second round of voting.
