So do you guys think this means her name will be Ditzy in any future appearances? At the very least, it should apply to episodes written by Amy.
You read it. You read it and you read it. And now you're going to read it.

What's wrong with a cider competition?
Sounds more interesting than romance!

If they do refer to her as Ditzy Doo in a future episode, (addressing her diretly, not just droping her name when she's not present, ) then that will pretty much cement that Derpy is just a nickname Rainbow Dash uses for her.
@Rhyme: I doubt it'll be the idiot ball so much as more pride; it's always been Applejack's major problem, and accepting a challenge for the
entire farm against a cider machine sounds very in-character for her in her less careful moments.
^Vindication! Though I also have to wonder if they'll just disassociate from her entirely...

Pride is not a good excuse to bet away your entire family's livelihood. If it's a gradual escalation of bets it would make more sense (they end up that they need to bet the farm to get back everything else they lost.
^^Come on, Ginger. I'm not particularly looking forward to it either, because I can largely tell how it's going to go (unless they throw the John Henry comparison for a loop). I'm excited for the character interaction and more Big Mac and Applejack focus, not for the actual competition itself.
^No, it's a terrible excuse. I'm not sure that's how it'll go, since once the Apples win it'll be hard to get a moral out of it, but we'll see.

They might lose the farm, but get it back by the end of the episode. Probably by finding out the bros cheated.

It really does seem like AJ is destined to fail whenever she gets the focus, and get shown up whenever she's out of it.
Or BOTH at the same time

Red, maybe the moral will be learned by the Flim Flam brothers? (Unlikely I know)

^Uh, the word 'excuse' you used in the post I arrowed to?
@Ginger: Calm down, calm down. I'm sure she'll do just fine.
