Honestly I think we're blowing this out of proportion here. Most likely people will whine for a few days, the writing crew will be momentarily bewildered, and then things will go on as normal.

My theory is that they chose Derpy because it's more of a risky word than ditzy and the staff wanted to see if they could get away with saying it on TV without having Moral Guardians all up on it! :D But I'm all the happier they did!

You know what that seems to be the case. The only thing i know is that Amy Keating Rogers got some negative feedback, but I've got nothing about if anything is actually going to happen to Derpy or the episode.

Personally, I prefer Derpy. I don't consider it offensive, since I've never heard the word actually used to refer to someone disabled.
