Actually, with the diamond thing, she actively resisted his temptations and tauntings the second-best of the five to be turned in that episode.
I think this boils down to how much each of us think she would buckle down and focus when given the kids to look after. I think we can both agree that she's a dynamo when she focuses on something.

But a belly caused by pregnancy looks a LOT different to one caused by fat though (at least in my experience)

If she went to Twilight, it would've been Twilight dealing with the problem, rather than Pinkie actually
doing something about it.
And then there would've been an argument about Twilight being overly competent, and Unicorns being hax baby sitters and...
bluh.

Yeah, it's a special lesson just for Pinkie.
I think the difference here is that in Applebuck season, Applejack really did try to do more than she was reasonably capable of, and the problem was not the apple picking per se, but her unwillingness to acknowledge her limitations.
Here, the problem was Pinkie not taking her responsibilities seriously, and needing to realize that she had to do so. She wouldn't have grown if she had just accepted Twilight's help, and in the end, she managed on her own.

Yeah. *nod*. I think I can go with that explanation.
Thanks.

No, Mage, you don't understand. FRIENDSHIP PERMEATES ALL THINGS. ALL THINGS ARE TO DO WITH FRIENDSHIP. ALL LESSONS ARE LESSONS ABOUT FRIENDSHIP.
Case and point. The least capable character has do a job contrary to what she knows. Hilarity ensues, again, and again. She learns her lessons over the experience. The end.

And spent the montage doing more to keep the house clean and the babies happy than she had done for the rest of the episode.
But yeah, we probably should get off that track.

ALL LESSONS ARE LESSONS ABOUT FRIENDSHIP!
So are the mane six the closest friends the Cake's have? I can understand Pinkie, but all of them were there at the hospital, and no one else.
BUT SHE DIDN'T EVEN INTERACT WITH HER FRIENDS!
She had to deal with a unicorn baby doing a magic surge.
Friendship is magic so magic is friendship.
She had to deal with a lot of friendship.
