Someone said that Mrs. Cake is skinnier in this episode, meaning that she's been pregnant the whole time. Did she actually lose weight, or is this like when people thought Spike was gradually growing bigger over the course of Season 1?

EDIT: Double pagetopper

You don't losse weight after a pregnacy you gain it.

It'll be hard to say until we get a side-by-side. I didn't notice any outright difference, myself.

[up]Yeah, but the balloon belly of actually being pregnant goes away.

How often have we seen Mrs. Cake this season? A horse's Gestation period is eleven months, and we've spanned at least half a year. If we hadn't seen her often, simple progression of time would be enough to account for it.

Actually, with the diamond thing, she actively resisted his temptations and tauntings the second-best of the five to be turned in that episode.

I think this boils down to how much each of us think she would buckle down and focus when given the kids to look after. I think we can both agree that she's a dynamo when she focuses on something.

So, I saw the episode...and I kind of agree with Ginger.

I think it was good up until the ending. It was sweet, don't get me wrong, but it sort of wrapped itself up way too neatly. I liked that Pinkie had a breakdown, that was raw, that was natural, and the kids trying to help her out...sorta made sense, I guess? But I think it would have been better if she instead went to Twilight who helped her, or something, IMO.

But a belly caused by pregnancy looks a LOT different to one caused by fat though (at least in my experience)

If she went to Twilight, it would've been Twilight dealing with the problem, rather than Pinkie actually doing something about it.

And then there would've been an argument about Twilight being overly competent, and Unicorns being hax baby sitters and... bluh.

Also: is it just me or did this moral have nothing to do with friendship?

@Enlong but that happened in Applebuck season and I was ok with that ending. (Hax Apple pickin' notwhithstanding)

Maybe they didn't want a repeat of that ending

[up][up][up]Really?!. . .you know I can kind of see that happening.

[up][up]We've moved on from friendship. I guess.

Yeah, it's a special lesson just for Pinkie.

Yeah... it wasn't a prefect ending, but on the other hand it was still a really, really solid episode. I totally want to see fanart of pound and pumpkin all grow'd up.

Hell, if I don't see any I'll probably be making some myself.

@ Enlong: Yeah if she does buckle down she'll get the job done. Like in the latter half of Sister Hooves Social and Suited For Success.

There's also the possibility that Rarity rarely goes to Sugarcube Corner (I think she's the only one of the Mane Six who hasn't been) and so they don't know her very well. I'd imagine she doesn't eat that sort of thing very often. Compared to Rainbow who is often over there with Pinkie and so they'd know her more and possibly trust her more.

I think the difference here is that in Applebuck season, Applejack really did try to do more than she was reasonably capable of, and the problem was not the apple picking per se, but her unwillingness to acknowledge her limitations.

Here, the problem was Pinkie not taking her responsibilities seriously, and needing to realize that she had to do so. She wouldn't have grown if she had just accepted Twilight's help, and in the end, she managed on her own.

[up] Yeah. *nod*. I think I can go with that explanation. Thanks.

No, Mage, you don't understand. FRIENDSHIP PERMEATES ALL THINGS. ALL THINGS ARE TO DO WITH FRIENDSHIP. ALL LESSONS ARE LESSONS ABOUT FRIENDSHIP.

Case and point. The least capable character has do a job contrary to what she knows. Hilarity ensues, again, and again. She learns her lessons over the experience. The end.

[up][up][up] Except she didn't. She got a luckky break.

Okay, I'll stop now

BUT SHE REGECTED TWILIGHT'S HELP IT WAS JUST PINKIE PIE AND NO OTHER PONY. Her friends wheren't even remotely involved in today's moral, she didn't use the word "friendship" once in her letter!

[up][up] And spent the montage doing more to keep the house clean and the babies happy than she had done for the rest of the episode.

But yeah, we probably should get off that track.

So are the mane six the closest friends the Cake's have? I can understand Pinkie, but all of them were there at the hospital, and no one else.

She had to deal with a unicorn baby doing a magic surge.

Friendship is magic so magic is friendship.

She had to deal with a lot of friendship.
