Speaking of, was it actually confirmed that their names were Carrot and Cup before? I can't recall hearing it in-show, but I know that they were the fandom's names for them, so...

Oh man, that would suck for a pegasus family that had to move because they gave birth to a unicorn or earth pony.

And that's why she was the Cakes' second choice.

Let's be honest, they were really depserate if they went to Rainbow Dash before Rarity (who at least has been seen to occasionally look after her younger sister, if not a baby)
