One thing that's always made me curious is Twilight and Celestia's relationship. Twilight, whenever Celestia is involved, jumps to the worst conclusion, whether it be banishment or magic kindergarten. But other than "Lesson Zero, " Celestia seems pretty calm and forgiving. So what made Twilight so afraid of her?

Twilight seems pretty high strung. Jumping to the worst possible conclusion is probably typical for her.

Maybe it's some kind of inferiority complex. She's afraid of not being the best because Celestia told her she was so powerful.

Like people have already mentioned, Twilight's a very high strung pony. It's just that her neuroses overcome her common senses when she makes even an understandable mistake.

I think that's exactly what it is. She's been told she has a great deal of potential by Celestia, and wants to live up to unreasonably high expectations that she sets herself.

I feel like Twilight has absolutely no reason to fear Celestia ever getting angry at her, but she also doesn't want to let the Princess down. It's just another way that Celestia's not really viewed as a person by her subjects - the trappings of the crown come first. I mean, Twilight had to mind-control an entire village before Celestia gave her a stern talking-to; that was probably the first time she'd ever had to, simply because Twilight worked so hard and toed the unnecessarily strict line she drew for herself.

Actually, her behavior in the pilot supports this. She's self-confident and a little egotistical - why? Because the Princess has never once been disappointed with her.

You'll make it through, Apple. Use the boost if necessary. =D

Either that or she was around to see the one time Celestia got angry, and she never wants it to happen again.

Of course that's a much darker approach to it. It's more likely that she's just worried about letting her hero and mentor down.

Also, Twilight isn't the best when it comes to assessing the emotional state of others.

who goes into the Yack Fest thread (and who has been reading the last few pages) knows, I'm sort of making a World Building project for a Pony Arabia and I'm looking for some feedback and ideas. What do the posters here think of a society of ponies who primarily venerate Luna, for example?

I think the idea has been stated before, but I can't say I've seen it explored. It seems like it could be interesting, and I find myself wondering exactly how the society would act, nocturnally. Keeping in mind most desert cultures have historically worshipped the sun, it's odd that this culture shouldn't, especially when you have a living sun diety to worship.

I would, however, point you to the pony fanon workshop thread in New M Edia, however. This sort of thing is what the thread is there for. I'm also developing a esert country of my own, which I may or may not find the time to use in a story, and so I'd be glad to throw ideas around with you there.
