The challenge was in doing the first time (ok second, but first time that she was actually trying). Hell since the first time was completely accidental, as a filly, seems any challenge there was mentally enforced, and/ot just poor technique (the one hoof vs two outstretched thing). Once those were over come on Sonic Rainboom, why would there be more obstacles, other then for the sake of obstacles, which is even worse.

Really, the best protagonist analog i can think of ATM is
Darkwing Duck. Same basic issue, a deep down good and decent person/pony/duck that wants to do good and help people. But also has a gigantic ego that craves recognition for it and praise. Yet, when push comes to shove and it really matters,
they can push past there own ego and do what's right.
