I wish I played more games with those types of character creation systems so I could make ponies in it. The closest I've come is making human!Lyra in Rock Band.

I tried playing as a Pony race in Galactic Civilisations II. Not going well.

@Badwolf: I don't know that game (like Civilization?). What does a pony race entail in it?

I whant add something to discusion from ealier today (or in previous day) about what cartoon from childhood should be crossed with MLPFIM - what about more recent cartoons? From last decade. Like Kim Possible. I think there is only one crossover pony fic with KP and I saw only few fanarts of that.

I just whatched KP episode (best way celebrate New Year is watch cartoons during night in TV) and I need to mention this.

@kegisak You reminded me that I need to reinstall that game. I never played this after discovering new ponies. I wonder about result of in game search of "My Little Pony". Horever I'm not sure how you could do roleplay of Aliconrs.

Yeah like Civilisation. But IN SPACE!. It's really good.

Basically I'll always pick the moral option available despite the costs it has. I'll never declare war and have only a minor military in comparison to my civ's size. All of the perks my species have relates to loyalty, culture, happiness and ecology. None for war. My population's happiness must always be in the green and thus taxes need to be low.

One problem is that having a low military means the other civs think I'm easy to push around but I'm sure that Princess Celestia (my head of state) wouldn't just hand over a planet of her ponies to unrepentant slavers. Thus they declare war, and then so do all of their allies (they have a few). Luckily they live quite far away from me and I own most of the habitable planets in my core region so it will be hard for them to get to me.

The other problem is with being a race with a small military. I can't win via conquest, there are other ways to win of course, technological, cultural and via ascension. I got lucky and started next to an Ascension Crystal so I just have to hold out, protect the starbase I have there and in late game I will ascend and win. This has the problem that every race in the game is opposed to me since I am already trying to win.

But since I've specialised into culture rather than warfare my planets will rarely flip to my neighbours side and theirs often do, especially when they build in my neck of the woods.

Spore is good for creating pony race, and with Galactic Adventures you can recreate many things from show (maybe even try full episdoes).

@Death: Basically I would just make my 'alien' and alicorn, which I'm at least mostyl certain you can do since you can make quadrupeds, and I've seen wings and horns in the list of bits you can put on them. Then I give them a few abilities to mimic magic, and build their civilization. It's mostly just inventing the story as I play through on my own. You know, old and proper role playing.

@Badwolf: Hey, wow, thanks a lot for the detailed info . I LOVE Civ, so that sounds super interesting, what level are the graphics on, Civ-comparison-wise? 3? 4?

But also kinda sad, I had kinda hoped that "pony race" would mean a total conversion mod, where all your units are ponies and so on ^^.

Nah all the units are space ships, the only real thing I'd need to mod is the race picture (they don't have ponies so I'm using the Squirrel one). The core game is very modular on it's own, you can customise a lot about your race during creation.

I'll post some screenshots for you. Planet menu, ◊ map zoomed out, ◊ Ship Design Screen (appearance is very modular as well as weapons), ◊ Diplomacy Screen (the portrait is animated in game), ◊ Zoomed in map◊, Really Zoomed in map.◊

And of course A fully operational Terror Star.◊ I sadly don't think I should build those since they probably go against the ideals of ponies.

• Fluttershy: Papilia ([Hypothetical] feminine form of papilio [butterfly])
• Pinkie Pie: Rosa Mellita (Honeyed [i.e. sweet] rose)
• Rainbow Dash: Flumen Iridis (Thunderbolt of the Rainbow Goddess)
• Rarity: Pretiosa (Precious)
• Twilight Sparkle: Scintilla Vespertinus (Glimmer of the evening)

@kegisak Creating Alicorn is easy if you skip first stages, because playing creature you need find all parts for Alicorns, and playing Tribal stage with creatures with no hands is propably imposible.

Do you have Galactic Adventures exapansion ?

"Malifera" sounds... well, evil.

Well, both "apple" and "evil" were homonyms in Latin (both were "malus"*

although "malus" meaning "apple" was pronounced with a long a, which means that it should actually be spelt "mālus" in modern Latin orthography

). It probably cemented the deception of the Tree of Knowledge in the Book of Genesis as an apple tree.
