AJ joined her parents, famous Earth Pony explorers.

I mainly assumed Apploosa because 1. we know for a fact that AJ has family there, 2. it's apple-themed, so it makes sense that she'd go there, 3. the animators might rather reuse an old setting rather than go through the trouble of creating a new one from scratch.
