Hey everyone.

It's old by now but I just wanted to mention that the show hasn't been completely devoid out of character development.

Twilight in the return of harmony fart II isn't the same twilight in The mare in the moon. The applejack and the rarity from the slumber party isn't the same from sister hooves social.The Rainbow dash from "mare do well" isn't the same from "secret of my excess".Fluttershy and Rainbowdash have grown closer lately too

The changes have been subtle but definitely present

Fran and I got into a debate last night over whether or not the show's episodic nature was detrimental to the show as a whole, and he cited characterization as one of the issues caused by it.

We had a discussion about how the show's Negative Continuity affects the Character Development over the course of the show a few pages back.

@Fallen: For the first two at least, I think we can safely say that Season 2 takes place entirely after season 1, so there is some continuity in Character Development, just not from episode to episode. The Rainbow Dash example is either character development, or just showing two different aspects of RD's personality.

I'm fairly sure Snips (or was it Snails, I tend to forget which is which) is the only younger pony we've seen performing any magic outside of Twilight and Rarity in their flashbacks. I would imagine it to be difficult to learn at a young age.
