@Thefran: I minored in writing in college and took a fair number of literature courses. The problem is that most of them were focused on theme, symbolism, and basically a whole lot of theorizing about what the author was really trying to say. I very much prefer analyzing the more story-driven aspects; character motivation, plot development, pacing, those kinds of things. The creative writing classes were tons of fun though.

EDIT: And yeah, from that scene on was the best part of the episode.

re: Rarity and the Fire Gem thingy

I'm with Red Sevant, Rarity wanted the jewel but would never ask for it, and the thought of asking for it never crossed her mind. If there was some "coerios and use of feminewills" it was done sudconisesly.

After all, if it was intentional, I rather doubt that she would bother with spending the rest of the episode singing his praises. Especially when she thought he wasn't around (Example: when speaking to a huge dragon that she didn't know was Spike).

@Jteeth: I've posted here from the iOS Safari browser, the Android 3.2 browser, and the 3DS browser with no problems. TV Tropes sure is friendly to most browsers :D
