Damm, dude, you remind me of my friend that watches anime, but refuses to read manga because 'reading makes him tired'. Bloody idiot, since the original is always better.

Either way, an hour per chapter should be easy to make. And it's not something you want to read in only two days, as I learned the hard way. I recommend it to you, despite your short attention spantongue.

It also reminded me that I should really, really go see Groundhog Day.

[up] Um, I read manga all the time. [lol][lol] Breezed through the entirety of Fruits Basket in about a day.

Reading PROSE is where I break down. Reading isn't the problem. My imagination isn't good enough to visualize properly. I don't enjoy myself. Everything always happens in a white void.

It's always strange for me to hear people claim that it's hard to visualise what they're reading. For me it just happens on its own.

[up][up]I'd say that's a problem you should work on. Prose is just as good a story-telling medium as any sort of visual media. And I'd also say that reading a fanfic of a series that you are intimately familiar with would be a great starting point, since the characters and settings should be burned into your brain by now, and making the images move according to the words should take little to no effort from your imagination.

I'd say that you should go read The Best Night Ever once you got some sleep.

[up]I agree with this sentiment. Seriously, I was raised on comic books, yet never had any problems with imagining prose. If the story is any good, that is.

STOP RUBBING IT IN!!

I can visualize, it just doesn't look very good... at all. As Isaid, normally it's a room in the middle of a white void.

I can read prose as long as it isn't too focused on being descriptive. If it's left REALLY vague then I can imagine whatever I want basically, or if it's written in an incredibly fact driven way.

That's the reason why Another Note is one of my favourite books

Your loss, dude. No skin of my back. But really, being unable to appreciate fine prose is hardly the mark of an educated gentleman. It is a skill worth developing from both a personal and social point of view.

One of the best pony fics I ever read was Always Sunny In Fillydelphia. Great story, AJ and Dash were spot on, and it was cute as hell.

[up][up]As always, I never know just how serious you are. As a friendly suggestion that you do might appreciate, please add a smiley when you're joking. Or even better: a pothole to Really Angry for the sake of clarity.

But for the record, I did not call you a piece of shit, I just pointed out that people expect from educated gentlemen that they are able to appreciate prose. While I usually don't give a crap about society's standards (Brony, D&D player, dreamer. Helllooooh?) I see the use in being able to put up at least a front of sorts.

@ CDRW: Don't worry, it was nice, I just...really didn't expect it. Scared me a little^^'

EDIT: I don't have much to do during the holidays, I wonder if I'm not going to try to find a logical timeline for the series so far...

I honestly can't name any really good short fic besides My Little Dashie, and I have my problems with that one too. It might just be because I avoid them a little, but I just think that the people in our fandom who are really good at writing are a little more ambitious with their projects.

[up]Here.

[up]Well, that's probably because of the great characters in the show. They move pretty much by themselves. Writing fics for them must be incredibly fun, so I can understand why writers want to take their sweet, sweet time getting it out.

I've read a lot of short fics, but none of them really jump out at me.

Edit: Sigh...can't wait till the fanon workshop is up and running again. Shouldn't have started it on Chirstmass Eve Eve.

Don't get me wrong, it takes the same amount of skill to write a good short fic as it does to write a good novel. It's only more ambitious in the word count and time spent on it.

A good short story shares a lot in common with poetry. Each and every word needs to have special meaning. There's no room for filler or off-topic stuff, and writing something that concentrated is really hard.

[up] I want to see one too. Maybe I should do a short Zecora fic as a side project.
