Just saw the episode, and it was pretty good. It's nice to see Rarity have the ability to take care of herself.

Also, KNIGHT!Spike was truelly a thing of beauty.

So this episode was pretty much the greatest thing ever.

Nice.

First time I'm thinking "wow, I think I might rewatch this one in a while". It didn't have jokes that made me laugh so hard that my throat got sore, of which there had been like three throughout the series so far, but it actually managed to have me audibly laughing or at least chuckling the whole way through. Rarity has an amazing voice actress, like pretty much everyone else, Fluttershy said "oh dear" a lot, and apparently Diamond Dogs are a reference to an album by David Bowie? Or maybe not.

Honestly, the sociology (for lack of a better word, I guess) between all the animals seems pretty bizarre and lacks a lot of explanation. I'd give Rarity the benefit of the doubt and say mules are generally considered ugly and it's not something that bothers them.

I think that might fit in with how the "stubborn as a mule" saying exists, but the mule within earshot didn't take offense to it.

...maybe she's part mule?...And really doesn't show it? I'm fairly certain they aren't allways sterile.

At any rate, it is a pretty funny thing, now that you mention it. And keep in mind, they also apparently keep sentient cows in barns, and whatnot. The country of Equestria is a very, very odd place...I suppose the other animals are just content with the inherent caste system, after all, who's gonna argue with an immortal Goddess-Queen who banished her own sister to a Millennium of isolation over wanting some appreciation?
