And the norse Gods weren't that bad
From what I know about Norse mythology, there's a good explanation for that.
We are not quite sure what Norse mythology
used to be, but the Norse gods as we know them are more or less heroes, a lot like Hercules, later retconned to be gods. That, and it is definitely arguable whether you cal
siưr religion. And Eddas as we know them are written in post-Christian Scandinavia, thus meaning Ragnarok is affected by Revelations rather than vice versa.
Greek mythology? Now, this was another thing entirely. Greek gods were
dicks, and so were greeks themselves, and unlike whatever it is kids learn in school, no, it didn't decline as the civilization developed. Actually, the opposite of that. For example, the minoans. When the continental Greeks were still drawing heroes on their vases, minoans developed actual abstractionism and were playing with free form. This is huge. This is a marvelously developed civilization. What did they also do? Oh, they just
snatched a bunch of naked girls and boys and told them to perform gymnastics around enraged bulls, whoever is trampled is a sacrifice to the sun god.
Now I am getting kind of sidetracked, but I hope you get my point.
I actually have this theory that "nation" (as in
ethnos) and "religion" are pretty new concepts, and for most of the human history a "religion" and a "custom" meant the same.
You strike me a a guy, but the name suggests otherwise.
Fran might as well be short for Fransisc.
It is actually short for Frankenstein.
