How exactly were the unicorns superior, Ginger? IT probably took a fleet of them to move the sun and moon at all.

They all solved the problem by not fighting like a bunch of douchebags. Clover just knew about the Windigos because she was a giant nerd.

And Smart Cookie for actually being reasonable.

Bah. She said right when it happened that it was a magic that had never been seen before, despite years of a nation of archmages doing research their whole lives. A power that was only born with the combination of all three of their gifts.

Clover the Clever was not so much an archmage as much as she was magic wand that focused all of their powers.

Funny how the story from the app, as basic as it was, actually went further than this episode did. Thanks to the app, we know that after the three groups of ponies ended the blizzard and founded Equestria, the unicorns used their magic to build Canterlot, then they invited the earth ponies and pegasi to the first Grand Galloping Gala.

and it wasn't THEY, it was ONE unicorn, and given the Windegos were a magical creature, and Unicorn's were the ones who handles the magic, it is NOT that far a leap in logic.

I suppose I felt bad when I saw it stop at her horn as well, because I could see this entire argument happening as soon as I saw it.

@Ginger: Twilight explicitly said that it wouldn't have worked without the other two races. Not to mention that given that unicorns are the studious, intellectual tribe; it makes sense that they would have researched it more. Plus, it's less that unicorns as a whole knew what was going on, and more that Twilight's character knew, due to being chief mage or whatever. It isn't like the other races contributed nothing and the unicorns saved the day. They just happened to be the conduit that the more general pony magic manifested through.

Yeah, I figured that the way things were resolved with magic might have been at fault for Ginger's frustrations. I kinda thought it was a bit of a cop out myself, but overall, I'm not too upset.

But she wouldn't even have been able to do it if it weren't for Pansy and Cookie. If she had been on her own she would have frozen, horn or no. They weren't superior, it was a team effort.

My thoughts:

Proud Warrior Race pegasi, royal snobs unicorns, and democratic earth ponies. Yay barebone canon backstory.
Wendigos. Holy moly. Equestria is free of malicious ponies but they sure have predators aplenty.
LO Ltastic names. Princess Platinum, Clover the Clever (apprentice of Star Swirl!), Chancellor Puddinghead, Smart Cookie (hahaha wat), Commander Hurricane, and Private Pansy.
Has the Equestrian banner ever appeared before, and if it has, does it always have the two alicorns in it?
Deus ex Machina, like all good myths do. I think the episode could have used a little longer than 22-minutes runtime, but eh.
