Fast thread is fast.
Third (fourth, counting Faust's OC-alicorn) Alicorn: I may withold working much on my Horse-in-Equestria idea.
However, I'll drop this snippet here, an excerpt of the sole remaining copy of "Of Equine Origins", under the House Caballus entry. I have it planned that the particular article was left incomplete. And damaged.
“Horses were a dwindling subset of equines by the time Princess Luna fell into the twisted form of Nightmare Moon [see entry Mare of the Moon and Nightmare Moon] , and House Caballus decried the breach of Royal Protocol by Princess Celestia as too extreme. Despite the retaining of order, House Caballus made the decision to leave Equestria, taking with them all pure-bred Horses with them. A handful of Earth Ponies left with them on their own accord.”
“Princess Celestia sent emissaries to ensure that relations with House Caballus remained cordial, and provided that neither party caused undue trouble, trade was freely permitted. But the rift caused by Nightmare Moon was deep, cutting into the pride of Horse-kind, and driving the Horses and Alicorn and Ponies apart. The overwhelming majority of Ponykind sided with the sole remaining Alicorn, Princess Celestia, and thus Equestria continued to thrive and prosper under Her benevolent guidance and wisdom.”
“Separated by a large mountain range [see entry on Northern Expanse], trade eventually dwindled down and ceased. Contact with House Caballus and Equestria ended 97 years after their self-imposed exile. What follows is based off of conjecture and second-hand accounts.”
“House Caballus began Exile with eighty-two families, clans of Horses in similar occupations and lines of work. The largest of these Families were the Guardians, descendents of the Royal Heavy Guard, chosen to supplement the Pegasi and Unicorn Royal Guards as heavy shock troops. Following this, the next-largest Family were the Cart, composed out of powerful draft horses, skilled for pulling heavy loads and other industrial tasks."

“…on which the House Caballus constructed the Great Hall. Left unfinished due to a scarcity of resources, the Hall remained a meeting place until Post-Exile Year (PE) 193, when it suffered a catastrophic fire during a General Assembly. Three Families all but perished in the chaos, and House Caballus no longer had a sustainable Family lineage for the Blacksmith, Dyer and Sixsmith Families, and their lineages passed into history.”
“Following the crop failure in PE-214, a population census was ordered by Regent Star, and it was found that the total Horse-kind population numbered just over two thousand, supplanted by sixty-four Earth Ponies [section of text illegible]”

“…revolt in PE-639 leaving fifty-six horse-kind dead or mortally wounded, later succumbing to their wounds. Regent Aurora died of old age and was buried with Her Mothers under the catacombs of the Great Hall, and Her daughter, Regent Aura, began her reign.”
“Regent Aura began a campaign to reclaim the glory of the past years, and enacted several reforms and reorganizations [see entry on Caballus Reformation, PE-640], began a long process of recovery of the Southern Fields, once since fallow and a period of prosperity….”
